Advantages: Pure Elvis (the first live global satellite broadcast in history !) Disadvantages: None what so ever !
love for music that shines out. The songs have feelings and can reach out and touch you as he sings them so well.
Elvis also paid his tribute to Hawaii by performing some of the songs that were included in the soundtrack of his movie 'BlueHawaii', which he made in Hawaii in the early 1960's. The beautiful 'Hawaiian wedding song' and the title track 'BlueHawaii'.
I believe that Elvis was the greatest live performer. The songs that he sang in Hawaii in 1973 still contain the same magic now as they did then. Watch the concert now and the passion and love for music that Elvis possessed is clear to see. This concert was ground breaking and was the first of it's kind to be globally broadcast by satellite and I don't think ever will again. ...
Advantages: Elvis need i say more Disadvantages: none
This 1961 movie shows Elvis, back to his fun loving and swinging ways, after a short spell of making a few dull movies, this film shows Elvis as he should be, boyish looks and full of life.
The Film.
Chad Gates (Elvis) returns from a spell of national service to his home in Honolulu, home is a pineapple plantation owned by his parents, where its is parents wishes for there son to take control of the family business, but Chad is a young man who wants to find his own way in life, much to the dismay of his overbearing parents Chad lands himself a job as an island tour guide, this of course enables him to meet beautiful woman and charm all with his singing talent.
Some of the songs in the movie include "BlueHawaii," "Rock-A-Hula Baby," "Hawaiian Wedding Song" and "Island of Love," as well as the immortal "Can't Help Falling in Love ...
Advantages: Two bona fide Elvis classics Disadvantages: A patchy album overall
By the mid 1970's The King had matured into a stellar MOR performer and recorded some of his greatest songs, though consistency was still a problem and this album is no different from a few others he made at the time, having some overall excellent vocal work (by 1973 in my opinion he was sounding as good as he was in 1956) let down more than once by some weaker filler material on his LP's, a situation not helped by the two-album-a-year deal he was in at the time. Any artist, whoever they are, would struggle to produce two geniunely listenable albums in a 12 month span.
So it was to Stax Studios in Memphis that the Elvis entourage headed in December 1973; the original plan was to record with some of the house musicians there but sadly things didn't work out and the Presley live band were drafted in to back him up ...

Album Notes
This 1997 reissue of BLUE HAWAII is remixed and remastered from the original three-track master tapes and includes 8 extra tracks. Personnel: Elvis Presley (vocals); Scotty Moore, Hank Garland, Tiny Timbrell (guitar); Alvino Rey (steel guitar); Fred Tavares, Bernie Lewis (ukelele); George Fields (harmonica); Boots Randolph (saxophone); Floyd Cramer (piano); Dudley Brooks (piano, celeste); Bob Moore (bass); D.J. Fontana, Hal Blaine, Bernie Mattinson (drums); The Jordanaires, The Surfers (background vocals). Reissue producers: Ernst Mikael Jorgensen, Roger Semon. Recorded at Radio Recorders, Hollywood, California, in March 1961. Elvis' theatrical ouevre found him portraying singing busboys, singing prizefighters, even a singing doctor in love with a nun, all of which makes his role as the heir to a pineapple fortune in "Blue Hawaii" sound positively prosaic. But Elvis and Hawaii were made for each other like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and "Blue Hawaii" became one of his most successful movies. The soundtrack was the No. 1 record in the U.S. for an astonishing 20 weeks, making it Elvis' most commercially successful LP, and one of the most successful LPs of all time. Like most of Elvis' soundtracks, the album contains some real gems surrounded by some real dross. This 1997 reissue is remastered and remixed from the original master tapes, and includes several extra tracks. Amid such frivolities as "Rock-A-Hula Baby" (co-written by Ed Wood's girlfriend Dolores Fuller) are classic tracks like "Can't Help Falling In Love." The reissue adds the actual on-screen version of this prime Elvis ballad.
