...This is a good and cheap selection of some of the greatest blues musicians ever. The collection opens predictably with a muddy waters track (rollin’ stone) although probably not his best and then there appears the great elmore james performance on slide guitar in ‘dust my broom’ – a fantastically modern style of blues for the time. The j l hooker song is not ‘boom, boom’ thank god and the howlin’ wolf track ‘smokestack lightning’ features as track 9, this is a great song and I think once a budweiser advert song. There is a beautifully rough recording of memphis slim’s ‘guess I’m a fool’ towards the end which is for me the pick of the tracks. This is a solid album, nothing too new, but touches all the bases and is successful....

Advantages: Metallica's best album Disadvantages: Few tracks are too much like Kill Em All
...Most Metallica fans favourite albums are either Ride The Lightning or Master of Puppets. Mine is Ride The Lightning.
Ride The Lightning is Metallica's 2nd album after the pretty average Kill Em All. Metallica were still young, but with experience behind them. They had nothing to live up too and everything to play for.
The album is relatively short but then the short albums are always the best, no fillers just pure heavy metal. The album also has an underlying link of death which makes you question your own existance.

Advantages: Great song, escpecially 'Perfect' Disadvantages: None!
...Back in 1994, the Lightning Seeds were just a single Liverpudlian, Ian Broudie, operating under an alias. Having had two unsuccesful (but very good!) albums, this was make or break time. Broudie planned to expand and make the Lightning Seeds into an actual live band, but first he needed a decent product to promote. Jollification was created; and it's their best album.
It souns like I've begun with the ending, but that isn't the case, because there's a lot to say about it; indeed, the album was a failure on release, only beginning to sell three or four months later. Indeed, first single 'Lucky You' didn't even manage the top fourty. These are two of the singles present, alongside happy hit 'Marvellous' and charming, summer evening song 'Perfect.'
The other six tracks live up to a similar standard, particularly the fabulous 'Punch...
