Latin Diva
Review of Silver Collection - Gilberto, Astrud by
joannahudson
Advantages: Beautiful lullaby voice, subtle but effective jazz backing
Disadvantages: None, all the songs are classics
.... It includes many classic standards that will be familiar to all of the jazz and Latin loving population. Many of them are co-written by the glorious Antonio Carlos Jobim, who has written many classic easy listening bossa nova tunes such as The Girl From Ipanema and Corcovado.
There are 25 songs on the album, and it would be too long to include notes about every song, but I will give you an outline of the best recordings on this album.
Track:
1. Once I loved. A beautiful Bossa Nova with a lovely flute, guitar and strings backing. A happy song tinged with sadness. Suits Astrud’s voice beautifully.
2. Agua De Beber. A classic up beat bossa, with simple guitar and piano backing. A very simple but wonderfully effective song, with a few notes sung by Joao Gilberto. This is one of my all time favourite songs, a true classic.

Not pop-rock at all but jazz-bossa
Review of Easy Does It [Remastered] - Isabelle Antena by
gurugirl
Advantages: one of the best album of 2005
Disadvantages: not easy to find on the market
...ok , these are my words to speak of this record.
I first heard Isabelle Antena when she wrote and sung Seaside with Buscemi on his album Camino Real .I then found that the first Eighteen street lounge compilation started with one of her track (Antena). As I'm a fan of both Thievery Corporation and Buscemi , when I saw that this record had remixes from both , plus Nicola Conte and Yukihiro Fukutomi (who are among my favorite artists) , I had to get it. And actually , I do prefer now by far the first CD , pure bossa nova in Jobim style.
The cover of Henri Mancini's song is outstanding.I new it from the movie the Party , Claudine Longet being a french actress and Dimitry from Paris (french dj) had made an instrumental version. But this one , to me is even better than the original.
The bossa cd is recorded with a big band , strings , flutes...

Texas Flood
Review of Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble by
darren_john92
Advantages: hear a true blues legend at his best.
Disadvantages: alot of the tracks are of a similar tempo and style
...content
If youv'e never heard of this guy this is your best place to start, this album showcases some of the texas tone masters greatest licks and solos as well as various 'bonus' live tracks.
This album is ideal especially for the aspiring guitarist who wants inspiration and material to learn from. 'Lenny' is probably the most memorable track from the album, its a quite mind blowing instrumental that you'll listen to over and over.
Lyrics
this is not the greatest album to listen to for vocal content, as with a lot of blues artists all the songs are about one thing (bloke thats lost his wife etc..)
Cover / Inlay Design and Content
The thing i like about srv is there is always loads of album notes with pictures pictures, biogs etc. Good to read while listening....
