Blue Sunshine - Glove (The)

...This album is an amazing example of how talented the world can be. Simon Webbe, a former member of the boy band 'Blue', who have all gone their seperate ways, has stayed on to complete his career as a successful singer and it certainly has worked for him. A few songs to definately listen to on the album are Angel, Coming around again, Seventeen, Sunshine, Aint true to yourself, and the beautiful My Soul pleads for you. 'Grace' will will leave you amazed as you hear such a beautiful melodic song, that will charm the pants off you and make you proud to your bones of your heritage, which Simon talks about so much in his music. A definate for all Blue and Simon Webbe fans.... Read review

...I like Catatonia. My favourite album is Way Beyond Blue - the first, it has a innocence the next two don't, and it is more down to earth. Lots about life and people. These songs I could play over and over. They have a haunting quality emphasised by Cerys's voice. The songs on International Velvet are more powerful but also more commercial. My all time favourite is Don't Need the Sunshine. very evocative and powerful, guarenteed to make you cry when performed live. The latest album Equally Cursed and Blessed is not so good. Some scrappy songs, I think, but a lot of powerful issues dealt with. Very thought provoking. Not as commercially or critically successful as International Velvet, but that would have been an achievement. If you are thinking of getting a Catatonia album start with International Velvet and then go on to Way Beyond... Read review

...Another golden oldie that I'd completely forgotten about until my partner began playing it in her car one day. Zoe was a one hit wonder from about 9 years ago, with the Top 10 hit, Sunshine on a Rainy Day, which was a big brassy rock ballad that beamed so much energy & optimism that you felt it could actually lift anyone's spirits. But apart from that and perhaps her follow up, Lighting, she soon disappeared into the mists of time. Which is a great pity because replaying the CD now one cannot fail to be impressed by her decent vocal range and good choice of sampled music, most of which was always upbeat. Tracks like Mountains, Moonsister & Smile in the Darkness were radical departures from the more easily accessable stuff such as Sunshine on a Rainy Day. And that's probably why her career never really took off the way it should have... Read review
