Advantages: Actually very good Disadvantages: overlooked for more well known martial arts actors
Sonny Chiba movies seem to often get overlooked for the more glitzy martial arts actors such as Jet Lee and Jackie Chan and Chow Yun Fat. Many of Sonny Chiba's movies are often mature, and totally action packed, with very good storylines. Many of Sonny Chibas films are traditional period types, such as samurai's or ninjas. The fight scenes are often very good indeed, especially the sword fights. More often that not the films are in the native Japanese language with subtitles which is better, becuase that way you are getting the original script, rather than sometihng made up. For me these are the movies that opened the door for movies such as Azumi, Azumi 2, and Versus. These movies are most definitely worth a look. ...
Advantages: Harmless slapstick fun for all the family Disadvantages: a little outdated and sometimes repetative
The other day I was rummaging though some old boxes in the garage and I came across several video cassettes, one of which contained a movie I had not seen for over twenty years. The movie in question was a one off from the, back then, brilliantly comical partnership of Cannon and Ball (they do window adverts these days).
Back then, in the turn of the eighties, I was a big fan of the very funny Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball, loving their tv shows in the late seventies through the eighties, enjoying the way the pair bounced off each other with the brilliant style of humour and fantastic banter.
After mentally reminiscing about the past, recalling the brief parts of this movie I could remember, I decided to watch the entire movie again, sitting back, waiting for the comedy to start.
The movie in question being ?the Boys in Blue ...
Advantages: Small brewer; light clean taste Disadvantages: Not my favourite bitter, taste-wise; Connotations of the name
I’ve given this bitter a try recently, as it’s started to become available in my local supermarkets.
It’s produced by a micro brewery, Coniston Brewing Company, based up in the Lake District – in actual fact this is the work of two men, Ian Bradley and Rob Irwin.
Bluebird bitter is what’s known as a “single varietal” hop beer, and a “session” beer. The taste is distinctly light and hoppy, and very clean. There is a faint tinge of fruitiness, perhaps citrus.
It won the “Champion Beer of Britain award 1998” award, at the Great British Beer festival, so plenty of people like it – a lot.
Here are some of the more technical details, for those CAMRA members:
ABV = 3.6% (4.4% bottled)
Gravity = 1036
The malts used are Maris Otter pale malt and crystal malt ...
