Advantages: Varied popular songs plus some obscure ones Disadvantages: The obscure songs are probably not to everyones taste
This is the second CD I have brought from this series, I find these CD's a general overview of the years music relating to well known tracks to some that are unknown to me. This therefore make is a very good album to listen to as you know what you are getting from some of the songs. artists like Sterophonics, Muse, Athlete, The Libertines and so on are well known and will appeal to the majority. There are however some more obscure songs bands like Client, Bees, which although are not to bad for my taste they may not appeal to everyone.
On the whole I have found this to be a good album in my collection and one that I will listen to if I can not make up my mind. If you like the main popular songs on this album then I would recommend to have this in your collection. ...
Advantages: A good excuse to re-discover a great album. Disadvantages: You may have bought it a couple of times before.
Having recently re-discovered this album I had forgotten just how great it is. The album contains classics such as 'Helter Skelter', 'Yer Blues', 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' and Harrison's awesome 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps'. In my opinion this is a sometimes overlooked album when the Beatles catalogue is considered and often remains a source of disagreement between fans. For me 'The White Album' remains an incredible and often ambitious piece of work. In my opinion 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' contains one of Lennon's best vocals and the instrumentation is beautiful throughout, especially McCartney's bass parts and Harrison's playing on 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps'. Despite containing a few of my least favourite Beatles songs I still find it full of inventive lyrics and interesting musical ideas. For me a genuine classic. ...
Advantages: Great voices, brothers are very easy on the eye! Disadvantages: No original tracks
This is the debut album from Andy and Cal also know as Journey South. Andy and Carl are brother who shot to fame on the X-Factor. They had been singing together for years and had spent all of their time touring the country playing small gigs and singing in pubs and clubs. All of their hard work paid off when they auditioned for the X-Factor and easily made it through to the live finals. Unfortunately the brothers did not win the show, much to my disapointment, but they did very well which lead to this album.
There are 11 tracks on the CD which are:-
The first time ever I saw your face
Let it be
Desperado
The circle
Nobody Knows
I still haven't found what I'm looking for
All of you
Time after time
It must have been love
All that I am
English Rose
All 11 of the tracks are cover versions but they do sing them very well ...
