Review of We Ain't Ever Satisfied - Steve Earle by
steerpyke
Advantages: /
Disadvantages: /
...out of the Bruce Springsteen book of lyric writing and musically akin to John Cougar Mellencamp but with his Texas drawl spitting out the words with regret and venom he manages to retain his own identity. These two songs also nicely encompass the vision in Earle's head. At one extreme its heading off down the highway with your friends raising hell and not looking back, at the other its being caught in the poverty trap of American government policy, this is the sound track to Earnest Hemmingway and Jack Kerouac.
Also from this album, My Old Friend The Blues remains one of Earle's highest regarded songs. Their finest album?
Review of Powerslave (Remastered) [ECD] - Iron Maiden by
miketherock
Advantages: Classic Songs
Disadvantages: Not long enough!
...the songwriting on this album is un rivalled. That is why it contains such classics as Two Minutes to Midnight, and Aces High.
Musically, Powerslave is brilliant, and the song Powerslave is the best example.
Rime of the ancient mariner is one of the best epic maiden songs ever. A juke Box Classic.
Bruce's vocals are untouchable on this album. The production works brilliantly.
Has one of the best maiden album sleeves, faturing an egyptian eddie!
The mummified eddie, one of the best ever, came from this album. This eddie recently made an appearence at Metal 2000, Earls Court, London.
You must own this Maiden Album...

Official Bootlegs, anyone?
Review of Bowie At The Beeb (The Best Of The BBC Radio Sessions 1968-1972) - David Bowie by
Beatmonster
Advantages: Up close and intimate during Ziggy's birth
Disadvantages: Huh??
...) recordings have been remastered to obtain the highest possible degree of sound quality and resolution. A third CD (more about this later), is included along with the original Beeb sessions.
The first and second CD contain the classic stuff, including David’s 1968 session with the Tony Visconti Trio, while the third disc, a limited edition bonus CD included with the compilation when I bought it, is a recording of Bowie's stunning performance at the BBC Radio Theatre in Portland on 27 June 2000, which was recorded in front of a studio audience made up of a hundred-odd lucky ilegitimates chosen from the Bowienet community only two days after his appearance at the Glastonbury Festival.
So with the preamble out of the way, let’s get down to business…
Before this last job, the last time the BBC dragged Bowie into one of their Radio Studios...
