Album Reviews: JazzTimes (4/97, pp.76-77) - \"...Some people feel that her voice had lost too much of its allure by this point; others can appreciate the depth she brings to these lyrics in spite of (or perhaps thanks to) the ravages of time, and for them, this album confirms the lady's claim to jazz royalty...\"
Advantages: The price of the Album was good and within my budget Disadvantages: The music store had to order the Album in, did not have it in stock
...This was an excellent Album, made easy listening. I have long been a BillyHoliday fan but to those people who have not heard her soulfull voice, I would recommend this album as an intro into the ninteen thirties blues scene.
Backed by the Ken Burns Jazz Band, Billy's voice is so sypathetically handled and allowed to blend with each mellow note. Its a rare combination of orchestra and voice, that is simply so in harmony with each other that the listener is lulled into the whole pre war American Night Club ethos. On listening to tracks three and four, " Me Myself and I " and "Without Your Love" with thier slight swing rhythm, you almost feel you are part of the audience, sitting at one of the tables. Advantages: Refreshing ol' skool R&B, Ruben's bringing it back! Disadvantages: Can't think of any...
...including covers by Al Green - "How Do You Mend a Broken Heart," BillieHoliday - "Lady in Satin" and my favourite "Flying without wings" by WestLife (yes I am a fan of Westlife).
Overall I would give this album a 9/10. I would highly recommend it to R&B/Soul fans. It delivers 100% it is not glossy album manufactured for mass popularity, instead it consists of pure Soul, perfect for us soulful folk. Enjoy!...

Advantages: Very good songs Disadvantages: Not as strangely attractive as Supernanny
...it.
EVERYBODY HAS A DREAM
…is as corny as it sounds. If you don't mind that then you may love this song, with its overblown chorus and sometimes cringewothy lyrics. I mean, I still like this song; I just know that I probably shouldn't. But then, I shouldn't have sexual urges towards Channel Four's "Supernanny"…
THE ENHANCED CD EXTRAS
Four videos of songs performed live in concert (Stranger, Scenes, JTWYA and Good Die Young) which play on QuickTime (which you can install in seconds), a link to Billy's official website, and a discography with photos of his back catalogue. This issue of the CD is also remastered (24 bit digital, if that means anything to you) and you get all the original artwork and lyrics. Billy is at his best playing live, and the concert versions of The Stranger and Only the Good Die Young are, I think, even better...
