Advantages: Reinvigorated Davis, awesomely funky, with a superb band. Disadvantages: You're kidding right?
...boxer who destroyed all of his opponents, and lived life in the fastest of the fast lanes. Cars, women, fine clothes, newspaper headlines, and a nation that baulked as a negro stood at the pinnacle of his profession. There was an awful lot for Miles to identify with.
The energy on this record is palpable. A tangible electricity flows through the 2 tracks that make up the standard edition release. Davis was never just Davis though, in the early days of be-bop he was in the shadows of Charlie 'Yardbird' Parker, with the birth of cool jazz it was Davis and Gil Evans and his quintet with Coltrane, Bill Evans, 'Cannonball' Adderley, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb. Later came the groundbreaking quintet sitting alongside Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter and perhaps most importantly of all, in the producer's booth...

Advantages: DMX's RUFF RYDERS ANTHEM / superb lyrics, amazing DARK production, gritty flow - BITES! Disadvantages: DMX's lyrics can be X-plicit and frightening for young children - SO WATCH OUT, GRRR!
...the DARK contents of this CD. Allow me to take you readers on a tour, through my review as we travel through DMX's dark moments (Grrrr!).
WHAT I EXPERIENCED
Upon my experience, I listened to 'IT'S DARK AND HELL IS HOT' in June 2002 and studied every DARK music track. Before I did so, I kept telling myself I will be a brave dog, I will be BRAVE DOG:
1. INTRO (4:09 min)
This is one of the GREATEST and darkest INTROs I have heard so far on a Ruff Ryders album. The INTRO begins with DMX having a brief conversation with an interviewer. The idea of the informal interview focuses on how DMX and his Ruff Ryders crew are up and coming and are about to become successful in the music industry (i.e. blowing up on the scene).
Immediately after the conversation, Swizz Beatz ( real name: Kasseem Dean ) starts off his production...

Advantages: Outrageously good! Music, playing, production, booklet - everything is great! Disadvantages: I honestly can't think of one thing.
...'Milestones' is just that - a landmark in jazz. Recorded the year before the classic 'Kind Of Blue', this is the record that started it all. It is remembered as Miles' first conceptual use of modal jazz, despite the fact that the blues dominate the album. However, this is no kind of blue - this is a frenzy of white hot hard bop action.
The personnel list for the album is similar to 'Kind Of Blue', with Coltrane on tenor sax, CannonballAdderley on alto sax and Paul Chambers on bass all joining Miles on both albums. However, Red Garland on piano and Philly Joe Jones, who appear on 'Milestones', were replaced by Wynton Kelly and Bill Evans on piano, and Jimmy Cobb on drums by the time 'Kind Of Blue' was recorded.
Track listing
1. Dr. Jackle, 2. Sid's Ahead, 3. Two Bass Hit, 4. Milestones, 5. Billy Boy, 6. Straight, No Chaser. Bonus...
