Album Notes: This remastered version of the classic rockers' 1979 album features five bonus tracks.
Album Reviews: Q (4/01, p.124) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...Distinctive...sounding like it was recorded with the leftovers from the amphetamine budget and leaking gloriously primordial sump-oil charisma..."
Advantages: classic album from classic rock band Disadvantages: none!
...This is the 3rd studio album by Motorhead (or 4th if you count the later released but earlier recorded 'On Parole' set.) It's the second release by the so called 'classic' line up of Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke and Phil Taylor. By this release the Motorhead sound was set, with Lemmy's thundering bass and growling vocals, Phil Taylor's manic and powerful drumming, and topped with Eddie Clarke's brilliant riffing and lead guitar work. All of which together made for a huge noise from just three band members. Loudest band in the world is what they were called back then, and that wasn't far from the truth if you were lucky enough to catch them live in those early days. So, what about the songs? This is a double cd digipak, so on cd 1 you get the original album, from the brilliant opener "Dead Men Tell No Tales" through to the final classic title...

Advantages: It's 4 Cd's, it's only around a tenner!! Disadvantages: None really, though some might moan about the lack of extra tracks
...If you're a long term fan of Motorhead then you should have all 4 of these albums. If you're a relative newcomer to the band via it's more recent output, then this is a great value way of picking up on the first 'classic' era of the Mighty Motorhead. These are the 4 studio albums that defined the Motorhead sound and saw the band rise from relative obscurity to almost superstardom, hitting the number one spot in the UK album charts, and with spots on TV's Top Of The Pops chart shows as well. 'Ows about that then guys'n'gals! So what all do you get with this little box set then?
All 4 albums are housed in cardboard sleeves that are 'mini' versions of the original vinyl sleeves. There are no extra tracks on these versions, for that you need to splash out on the separate 2-cd deluxe versions of each album, but then for a tenner or less...

Advantages: Cheap, Lots of classics, Good inlay card Disadvantages: A few not so good b-sides and fillers
...Whilst shopping in a sale in Virgin Megastore recently I came across a Motorhead greatest hits album. It was called Deaf Forever and was priced at the student friendly amount of £4.99.
Taking advantage of the offer I bought the CD and took it home to check it out.
The CD has some of Motorheads best known songs such as Ace of Spades, Bomber and Iron Fist. As well as this we get an assortment of other songs such as All the Aces and Lemmy goes to the pub :).
The songs on the CD span most of motorheads musical career and a few B-sides are thrown in as well as filler tracks.
It would have been nice too see We are Motorhead on the CD but unfortunatly its not present.
For £4.99 you really cant complain though, and if you like a few Motorhead songs, but dont want to spend loads of money buying all the CDs to hear a few good tunes...
