Blue Days away!

Advantages: Endearing, hilarious, and guaranteed to lift the low-level grumps
Disadvantages: None, apart from I wish there was more!

Tasmanian born Bradley Trevor Greive may just be a genius. Well, on a blue day I picked up this book, and, by the end of its 93 pages of photography and inspirational captions, my day definitely wasn't blue anymore. More sort of a hilarity orangey-yellow colour, I guess - or whichever colour hilarity is, anyway! It's a very simple concept - take one small hardback book- decide to take the reader on a well-known journey about finding yourself in that void of misery one day, the emotions involved, and eventually finding your way out - add one caption per page dealing with this emotional ...

The Monk - Matthew Lewis

Advantages: Fantastic read - Couldn't put down
Disadvantages: I couldn't find any even if you paid me...

Through these art forms, people were learning to think more independently, away from the church and become more open in their expressions. The first gothic novel was Horace Walpole's novel The Caste of Otranto (1764). This novel sets forth all the characteristic features of the gothic that we can recognise today. A ruined castle, an endangered lady, an evil villain, a hero and treachery are woven through the book and continue in some form through to modern day horror. The Castle of Otranto is a landmark piece of literature, and was actually subtitled "A Gothic Tale". There were many gothic books during this ...
