...than jake live on the borders and boundires tour, i became very impressed with hte songs they played from the album. (magnetic north, suburban myth, look what happend, gainesville rock city, pete jacksons getting married and last hour of tyhe last day of work).i started listening to the album again and enjoyed listening to these particular songs. however the rest of the album still didnt match up to the previous releases and will never be as memorable ... ...to underestimate the excellency of Borders And Boundries. Both are two different albums. Losing Streak was more of a punk rock with horns deal. Borders and Boundries shows that the band is maturing both musically and lyrically. The famous LTJ humor is still evident, but not as abundant as on past releases. Another major change is the amount that Roger, the bassist sings. Sometimes, he sings entire songs! Almost every song has a little bit of Roger ...
...the kid you knew when you were little who your parents wanted you to stay away from. If you want ska, get Hello Rockview. If you want more of a punk feel, pick up Losing Streak. If you're going for the best ska-punk money can buy, buy Borders And Boundries. ... Read review

This is the latest of the Less Than Jake albums, but although not their worst, it’s not their best effort either. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan and the tracks on this album are good, but that’s all they are… good. None of them ever reach the ska-punk perfection of ‘Johnny quest thinks we’re sellouts’, ‘All my best friends are metalheads’ or ‘Automatic’, which is a shame because ...
...nothing wrong with this album, and I am probably being slightly harsh because it is still enjoyable to listen to, and comes with that fun, entertaining factor that all their previous albums have had. It’s just that expectations were high, and trying to beat ‘Hello Rockview’ and ‘Losing streak’ was always going to be a difficult task. Borders and Boundaries is the new album from Less Than Jake and from my point of view it is more of their fantastic music. They have changed their sound slighly and noew sound more like Punk than Ska-Punk, this is a good progression and works realy well. In writting this new album they have changed to a new record label, Fat Wreck Chords, the record company setup by the NOFX bass player Fat Mike. This makes a change from Capitol Records as Fat Wreck ...
...to be getting better and I would hope to see them going from strength to strength this year. They are a band which are also quite friendly to the UK, they have in the last year had two tour over here. If you can go to see them live, they are tremendous. ..."Borders and Boundaries" is a good release by Less Than Jake. Better than "In with the out crowd" but trailing behind "Losing streak" this is a prettty average album for the Gainseville ska-punks. It is 40:29 of enjoyable music. Advantages: Brilliant Covers, Very Funny
Disadvantages: Too expensive for the short play time.

..." and Summer Nights add a true sense of Less Than Jake humour to the 70s tunes. "We Go Together" is hilarious and the lyrics and fun tune is going to have you in hysterics. "Beauty School Dropout" is another great cover. Starting with clean (if not rather purposely poorly song) vocals before some recognisable playing. There seems to be a lack of horns on this album however which is fairly dissapointing, never the less for Less Than Jake fans and rich people alike, there's some great ska covers on this album. This CD brings these classic tracks alive, and Greased Lighting sounds great in Ska-Punk! They pull this off whilst keeping the quality Ska-Punk style and adding some classic humour. If your new to Less Than Jake then I'd reccomend Hello Rockview or Borders and Boundaries. For any Less Than Jake fan however this is a must... Read review

Advantages: Some excellent 'anthems' from Gainesville's Ska Punk's
Disadvantages: Horn section is not as prevalent as with previous albums

.... With 'Look What Happened' the band revisit a previously released track, giving it a whole new feel and factor of power. The track was one of my favourites from 2000's 'Borders and Boundaries', an album which divided opinion amongst Less Than Jake fans yet one which I myself am a massive fan of. When I first heard the track I thought it was awful in comparison to the version that was featured on 'Borders and Boundaries'. It took me a lot of getting used to but I now feel that I probably prefer the 'Anthem' rendition of 'Look What Happened', a powerful track which packs a hefty punch. It is perhaps one of my all time favourite tracks of Less Than Jake, one which sounds even better when performed live. The singles released from this album I feel were quite interesting choices. 'The Science of Selling Yourself Short' for instance is quite a slow... Read review
