Advantages: Epic majestic songs of cars, pimps and girls. Disadvantages: American-based rock.
From the man described as "the future of rock 'n' roll", this L.P. is a killer from start to finish. Beginning with the lyrically superb "Thunder Road", it takes the listener on a musical journey through the wastelands of an urban Americana to a mythical Promised Land, with epic songs such as "Backstreets", "Jungleland" and "Night". This L.P. catapulted Springsteen from cult figure to overnight sensation, and it's not hard to see why. The whole feel ...

Born to Run Review ofBorn To Run - Bruce Springsteenby

Advantages: The music, the lyrics, The Boss himself... the list goes on Disadvantages: None. (Honest)
...E-street band, and you have Born to Run. The image Springsteen paints is of a city so tangible, you can see it when you close your eyes. Taken through the high-points of this city (Born to Run) to the low points (Meeting across the River), this album culminates in the epic 'Jungleland' which would not look out of place on a Broadway musical. This album transcends genre, and time, and is an essential part of any collection. This is an album for music ...

Advantages: Wide ranges of styles expertly covered Disadvantages: One duff track out of 19!
...for a songs that mixes skiffle and ska. No really. Another uptempo track with Mick and Joe sharing the vocals, this song is very much of its time (the late 70's and early 80's saw a host of white British bands leading the ska revival) but is none the worse for that. This is a Clash feelgood song, if you will.
**6.Spanish Bombs (3:21)**
"Spanish bombs in Andalucia", sings Mick in his plaintive tones on the opening line of this uptempo song. The intro sounds a lot like BruceSpringsteen's Born To Run as does some of the chords of the guitar bits in the middle, but the lyrics, the sentiment and the execution of the cut are the Clash's own. Top tune.
**7. The Right Profile (3:57)**
Joe's back with his yearning, tonsil-bothering singing style. The intro sounds like a 60's style pop record. Then once the horns come in, it could be a cover...

Advantages: Consistently witty, spiky, clever and good tunes Disadvantages: None (What, me? Biased?)
...-Las's territory with its spoken word intro, before Clem Burke kicks in with some killer drums. The song is ironicly cutesy but has sinister undertones dealing with a policeman falling in love with a sex offender. The song also sounds, rather bizarrely, like BruceSpringsteen's 'Born To Run', and this is due mainly to Burke's drumming, which propels the track. It is the classic theme of boy-meets-girl given a nasty sting in the tail and this is something Blondie were good at - luring you in with deceptively sweet melodies and strong hooks with themes that seem normal until we realise what they are actually about, noticing that there is something slightly sinister underneath. Blondie are also clearly taking a mocking, ironic look at the boy-meets-girl kind of songs which they so obviously love. The song was originally titled 'Sex Offender' but was toned...

Advantages: Great Sing Along Songs Disadvantages: Two great covers
..., but there's a love in all our soles and it shines like gold." Typical Bouncing Souls fashion to open up an album with a track that makes you want to listen to the rest. One of the best songs on the album. *****
'So Jersey' (4.01) is a sing along tune that has a big sing along chorus with a dozen of the Souls friend sing along "We wanna say thanks to the music in our lives forgive ourselves for all the lies, send some love to all the lonely, don't forget we're all one family, thanks to the music in our lives for helping us to survive lost in one lonely dream born to run and live free" a big tribute track to BruceSpringsteen *****
'Sounds of the City' (2.42) is the shortest track on the album paying tribute to there home New Jersey. Cool drumming and bass and guitar to open up. The song display there love for the city and the security...
