Bossa Nova Groove - Lalo Schifrin

Advantages: Good tunes
Disadvantages: Looses the atmosphere of the original

...Bullitt is one of my favourite films and no small part of that is Lalo Schifrin’s jazz flavoured sound track. However it’s not a particularly straight form of jazz. My father is a large fan of jazz and yet couldn’t name any other artist who has produced music similar to Lalo’s sound track. The overall tone of the music is darker than ‘normal’ jazz, reflecting the less than cheery outlook of the movie. However, this is NOT the original sound track, oh no. There are quite a few Bullitt CD’s floating round and this one, released in May 2001 is somewhat obviously not the original original sound track. Instead it’s a re-recording supervised by Lalo and performed by the musical talents of the WDR orchestra, “Bullitt – Music recreated from and inspired by the motion picture”... Read review

Advantages: one of the best album of 2005
Disadvantages: not easy to find on the market

...ok , these are my words to speak of this record. I first heard Isabelle Antena when she wrote and sung Seaside with Buscemi on his album Camino Real .I then found that the first Eighteen street lounge compilation started with one of her track (Antena). As I'm a fan of both Thievery Corporation and Buscemi , when I saw that this record had remixes from both , plus Nicola Conte and Yukihiro Fukutomi (who are among my favorite artists) , I had to get it. And actually , I do prefer now by far the first CD , pure bossa nova in Jobim style. The cover of Henri Mancini's song is outstanding.I new it from the movie the Party , Claudine Longet being a french actress and Dimitry from Paris (french dj) had made an instrumental version.But this one , to me is even better than the original. ...HEATHER NOVA - SIREN Most of you are probably wondering who this girl is? A cross between a soft rock Sheryl Crow and an innocent Alanis Morissette without the whiny voice. She's a chick with a guitar, so far so good right? Wait though, there's more to her then that...her voice is angelic, it's the sweetest voice I've ever heard in rock, her music is breathtaking, she covers all subjects in all of her albums from domestic violence to dreaming of love, you may not of heard of Heather Nova but after reading this Op you will be begging to go out and buy one of her albums...she is another one of my favorite singers, I met her a few years back at a gig she did in Norwich and she was so laid-back as she is on the album, a talented songwriter who can teach Alanis a thing or too!
