music's primacy in the grand scheme of things. That notion is richly underscored on this follow-up to late-blossoming North Mississippi bluesman R.L. Burnside's initial 1998 remix collection. While Kid Rock's rollicking duet cum roadhouse free-for-all on "My Name is Robert Too" further grounds his rootsy reinvention, Bay Area hip-hopper Lyrics Born lays a lugubrious guitar groove on "Goin' Down South" and kicks up "Someday Baby" with a word-tripping nod to Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues." But those flashy guest turns shouldn't distract from the real attraction here: Burnside's own earthy, rhythmically propulsive acoustic (the moody "Bird Without a Feather" source recording dates to 1968) and electric performances, as deftly refocused and punched up by producers Mike E. Clark and Tino Gross. Listeners familiar with Burnside's re-worked contributions to the hit Sopranos soundtrack and its follow-up will find this collection a rewarding shotgun wedding of something borrowed and something new--a smart, modern take on the blues. --Jerry McCulley

Advantages: Eclectic mic Disadvantages: There are other songs from the series that I wish were on it and as it is only 55mins long probably could have been
...The Sopranos television series was one of the few television highpoints of the last few years. The series is clever and unique as is this soundtrack.
The uniqueness of this CD is apparant when reading the tracklisting, how many compilations would have Bod Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Nick Lowe and the Eurythmics on the same CD. while some people may think this eclectic mix a weakness in a compilation, I preferred it. the reason being listening to this CD was an education, before this i had never heard of Alabama 3 or R. L. Burnside, however, listening to their tracks on this compilation ("Woke up this morning" and "It's bad you know" respectively) it encouraged me to make an effort to listen to more of their stuff.
This soundtrack is dark and brooding, perfectly mirroring the television series. The onlt problem with this compilation...

Advantages: Great Chilling Out Music Disadvantages: Perhaps Album And Songs Not Long Enough
...This album is just full of a wide range of songs and is probably Blur's most experimental to date. You've got the serious in Tender, to the Punk in B.L.U.R.E.M.I, to the heavy experimental guitaring on Bugman. Here's the playlist:
1. Tender
2. Bugman
3. Coffee & TV
4. Swamp Song
5. 1992
6. B.L.U.R.E.M.I
7. Battle
8. Mellow Song
9. Trailerpark
10. Caramel
11. Trimm Trabb
12. No Distance Left To Run
13. Optigan 1
Highlights on this are Bugman, great guitaring/distortion, Coffee & TV, great lyrics and some inspiring guitar quips and Tender and No Distance Left To Run are both well written ballads. Overall you have a great mixture of songs with some sublime guitaring and some toxicating lyrics at times. This album would be a valued addition to any music collection just for the shear mellowness you can get out of it....

Thematically going consistent in the entirety of the album's spirit. All in the name of bumming/hanging around this is, pretty good.

A treatise take on low minded women who'd like to take on a ride for fame and fortune by taking their clothes off, that's well deserved to pin down a knuckle about; it also signifies a certain consciencial awareness for Kelly Jones' lyrical ingenuity. The bible have the knack to picture such women as something who has been decreased to a loaf of bread, that ultimately creates the social moralities implication associated with those labels concerning such scenarios.
