'Boys' (3.28) came only a matter of months after Britney Spears had first announced her independant outlook on the music industry with 'I'm A Slave 4 U', and with this 2002 release she also took on board the other audiences she was beginning to attract. Whilst an original version of the track features on her third studio album, 'Britney', the official single release is a remix that was included on the 'Austin Powers 3: Goldmember' soundtrack album. This is Britney Spears, and not for the first time in her career she's singing about the positives of a male presence in her life, but what she was doing for the first time in her career was showing dependance on someone else - as 'Boys' became the first of Britney's releases to actually feature another artist on, this came in the shape of Pharrell Williams.
Pharrell is that R&B audience that I was talking about that appeared to begin showing an interest in Britney as she was growing up, and obviously since then we have seen what Britney can do in not just created brilliant pop songs but also tracks that appeal to her wider audience. Pharrell was also increasingly popular at this point in time, and is still an incredibly well respected name in the music industry for the work he does in producing. Unfortunately obviously there was something that disagreed with the American market, as the US Billboard only welcomed it up to peak at #109 - that makes it her second lowest charting single of her careet to this date ('Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know' being her lowest charting single of all-time at #112). Our UK industry was a lot more warming to this collaboration, as it peaked at #7. Many will just chalk this off Britney's record as something she had to do for the movie, which she then went on to cameo in. Britney was just one of many artists to contribute to the soundtrack, and in return stars from the movie made appearances in the video.
'Boys' opens with actor DJ Qualls, famed for his appearance as the skinny white guy in films including teen-favourite 'Road Trip'. Jason Priestley and Taye Diggs are two of the other names to appear in the video, not to forget Britney getting down and dirty with Mike Myers in the climax to the video. No one can complain about Pharrell's vocals, as they are exactly what he is good at, but it is those Britney fans that do not like the difference in her presentation here that will be the real ones at a loss with this track. Perhaps the concept of the song for boys being useful when girls need one maybe a little too adult for who was listening to Britney's music at this time, this will not go down as one of her most memorable efforts, although there can be no real complaints. I would still dance to it. This would be Britney's last single release that was at all connected with her third studio album, 'Britney', and her next single would be her collaboration with Madonna from her fourth album.

...the most powerful popstar.
Boys was released in the United Kingdom on July 29th 2008. Boys comes under the dance-pop and R n B genres. The length of this song is three minutes and twenty five seconds.Boys is taken off Britney's third album ; Britney.
Boys is one of my favourite Britney songs. When I first heard it I really didn't like it! But now , I absolutely love it! It is a very cool song with a club feel to it. I like how it is a duet between ... ...Britney singing about boys and Pharell singing about girls. I don't know why they just called it Boys as Pharell seems to perform equally to Britney on the song , and therefore I don't know why they called it Boys and not Girls ?
The beats are funky in this song and you just want to get up and dance. In a way this song is quite 'dirty'. It's definitely not the sweet and innocent Britney Spears we used to know all them years back. A song I definitely ...

Advantages: That i bought it for someone else Disadvantages: Everything
I have recently acquired this from a friend who was clearing out her CD collection and came round to the house trying to flog some of the CD’s onto me. I was pretty sure I wasn't going to buy a thing but I pretended to be interested, "Yeah that looks good...erm...yeah maybe" you know the drill.
Near the bottom of the heaving pile was the Britney Spears "Boys" single, and the thought hit me like a whack in the face, my little niece is a little ... ...Duff (please credit the amount of effort that went into finding these names) it was her 8th birthday in 3 days and I had only got her a wee silly thing from Claires. So I paid the 50p she was selling it for and thought I would give it a go.
The thoughts that occurred in my head during the song can not be repeated but let me dumb it down, "What a load of codswollop". It has absolutely nothing going for it, Britney is obviously trying her very best ...

Advantages: No video Disadvantages: B-side already available on first album
Oops!...I Did It again may be a replica of...Baby One More Time, but it's still fantastic - pop at it's best. The song has great beats, infectiously catchy and good tune - even the daft talky bit in the middle will grow on you. The song is normal for Max Martin, the producer for BritneySpears, N Sync and the Backstreet Boys. The single itself is not worth getting anymore though. The B-side is 'Deep In My Heart' - a song taken from Britney's first album. The remix is a remix of 'From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart' - also a song from Britney's first album. At the time, the song Oops wasn't avaiable anywhere else, but her album came out two weeks later so you can now get it on there. She looks absolutely gorgeous on the cover of this though. ...
Advantages: Fun Disadvantages: Outbrak of other similar bands
I know that punk kids hate it who listen to Green Day, and i know nobody has respect for the group in general as they strum out guitar pop tunes, way too pop for the majority, but i put my hands up that i like this ditty of a song.
When i first heard it on Radio One it made me take notice of it and at the time it was quite original and more than anything, fun!
When the charts were surrounded by BritneySpears lookalikes and boy/girlbands Blink 182 gave us something to hope for.
However, since All The Small Things many American bands have tried to do the same thing, and failed, making the market considerably worse.
The videos also very cool with all spin offs such as the infamous BritneySpears acting.
The oldest albums by Blink are much punkier and raw but i think this song fits their new style like a glove.Long live ...
Advantages: a much more mature and consistent effort which should appeal to a wider audience than previous offerings Disadvantages: the addition of Better the Devil You Know is both out of date and rather unnecessary
Steps return with their third and arguably most accomplished album yet. After the more bubblegum pop based material of their first two albums, the biggest pop band in the UK produce a more mature, international feel to appeal to a wider audience. Whether this has been successful is another matter. They are at their poppiest best on tracks such as "summer of love", "stomp" and "its the way you make me feel", but the rest of the album signals a pop sound seen more in the music of britneyspears or the backstreet boys. The Cheiron studio's produced "here and now" shows the new steps at their funky best, while "you'll be sorry" and "never get over you" show a more dance-orientated feel. The most surprising aspect of the album is the quality of the band's first forays into songwriting. Each member has co-written a track with varying ...
