This is the first Iron Maiden album since the return of both Bruce and Adrian back into the Maiden fold.
And to me it is just so much stronger than the previous 2 albums (X-Factor & Virtual XI) which a lot of maiden fans will agree with. The previous 2 were produced by Steve Harris and recorded at his studio. (No disrespect to the guy, but the sound of the band just didn’t wear well with me). Again other Maiden fans may beg to differ with me on that point of view.
I don’t know if it was to do with where they were recorded, the production quality or the fact that Bruce wasn’t in the band. (He was replaced by Blaze Bayley when Bruce left.) And each Maiden outing that was recorded when Bruce wasn’t in, just didn’t seem the same. But now Brucie babes is back and delivering the goods along with the rest of the band.
Because of this album I think that Maiden are much stronger musically than they ever were and to me prove they are still a force to be reckoned with.
The sleeve work depicts their mascot Eddie looking down at a futuristic London. The Cover Work was done by Steve Stone and Derek Riggs (Derek has done various Maiden sleeves from when Maiden first started out)
Right, here goes.
The Wicker Man - This was also the first single from this album, so when I saw it in the shops I thought to myself, OK I’ll give it a whirl and see how we go. Got home and put it in and pressed play. What I got was heavy riffs, Bruce singing his heart out and I thought Maiden’s back, whoooohoo ‘bout time! Love this song and when I did get the album, as you can tell I’m doing this op about it I think that this is a very good album.
Ghost of the Navigator - One of the things that I’ve noticed about this album is it’s more melodic than some of their previous albums and this song pretty much displays how they’ve done it.
Brave New World – This is the title track (obviously) and like Ghost of the Navigator is a very melodic tune, which to me indicates that Maiden aren’t finished yet
Then we go to Blood Brothers, The Mercenary, Dream of Mirrors, The Fallen Angel, Nomad is my favourite track on this album (In a way to me it reminds me of songs from the ‘Powerslave’ album, all rolled into one).
Out of the Silent Planet – This is a bit more of a rock track to me more than metal (some may disagree with me on this one!). But all in all a good track.
Then - The Thin Line Between Love and Hate (was the 2nd Single from this album) this wraps the album up well and left me wanting more Maiden so I played the album again and again and again.
The production quality is so much better than the past 2 albums (as I said at the beginning of my op). This was joint produced by Steve Harris and Kevin Shirley. Which I think has been a very good move. And was recorded in Paris.
Some people when they read this op may think ‘You’re a bit late with this aren’t you?’ well, yes I am, but also Maiden have recorded another album called ‘Dance of Death’that is due for release in September and are touring the UK in December (I’m off to the Sheffield one!) See you there!
Hope you liked my op and thanks for reading.

Touring in December, now that will be worth going to. I saw them lives YEARS ago (wont say how many) and it was one of the best ones I have been to. Trace :o)

Advantages: Lots of good tracks, lots of classic Maiden and an album to suit all1 Disadvantages: More tracks could be on the album! The more Maiden, the better!
