That actually means five tracks of traditional bagpipe music (totalling 17 minutes of the running time), that have nothing to do with the film. There are also numerous cuts of dialogue. Genuine fans of the movie and score will no doubt be delighted by the whole concept of this album. Anyone simply looking for more of James Horner's music will be disappointed. Martin Neary is the co-conductor (so he would have done some of the tracks) and also the very talented Abbey School Choirsters. So you have an excellent amount of talent put towards this soundtrack.
**Cover** The cover is of the old DVD cover of the movie. It's of William Wallace (Played By Mel Gibson) and Princess Isabel (Played by Sophie Marceau) They are, as all Braveheart fans will know, the main characters in the story. It has a dark black backround with a font (sorry don't know what it is called) running through out it.

Also when the bagpipes are playing you can hear everynote perfectly. The consistancy of tracks is very good. Each track glides swiftly onto the next. I was really impressed by the quality this CD had to offer.

**Favourite Song?** I'm stuck between 'Sons of Scotland' and 'A Gift Of A Thistle'. I love 'Sons of Scotland' because it is when there is the big speech (remember "They Can Take Our Lives, But they Can Never Take Our Freedom!") And that is one of my favourite parts of the movie. But i also love 'A Gift Of A Thistle' because it has the Braveheart 'theme' in it. So i'm stuck between them.
**Song I Don't Like** There isn't any songs i don't like particually but there is one that annoys me slightly. Its 'Mornays Dream' which is way to short. It's a good song don't get me wrong but it's over in about 10 seconds!
**Where Can You Get It?** Almost anywhere that sells CD's! Amazon, HMV, Borders you name it, it will probibly have it. You can also get it off iTunes as well and it has also been digitally restored so it should be of better quality. So have a search around.
**Price** The has a huge price gap. The RRP is a high £12.99! Alot of money but that was the price when it came out. Amazon are offering it for £5.97 which is a very good price. HMV are offering it for only £4.97 which again is a great price. But iTunes are offering it for £7.99 which isn't that great a price as compared to the CD versions. These prices might change but these are just guide ones.
**Whats Right WIth It?** It is a fantastic CD of all the music from one of my personnel favourite movies of all time. It is untouched and has not been edited. The only thing missing is the characters voices! The music quality was a lot better than i expected and is very high. The price is good if you get it under about £10. It is very sad in some parts as well and really gets you thinking. I loved this music. Also i just thought this is collectors piece as well for movie memoribellia. This is still a very famous movie so get all the stuff you can, it could be valuble one day!
**Whats Wrong With It?** Lets just say i wouldn't put this one my iTunes playlist. It is a very good CD but it's not something i would listen to a lot of the time. So it loses a star for that.
**Conclusion** This is a really good CD, untouched from the hit movie. I loved it and really enjoyed listening to it but as i have said above, it wouldn't be something i would listen to everyday. So i award this CD 4 Stars ? ? ? ?
Advantages: Rousing melodies, interesting percussion and infusion of Celtic instruments Disadvantages: This version of the film soundtrack is slightly condensed, and there's no vocal tracks
...part of, the Soundtrack to Braveheart by James Horner, and I didnt regret doing so. Listening to the album as a complete work you are really taken into a magical, mystical world. The piece is performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and they are dazzling in their playing, using choral elements, strings, horns, pipes, flutes, and bellowing drums. The album really flows and feels connected and well thought out as a piece of work, it appears to eddy ... ...a waterfall in others, when the action gets going in the film obviously. The opening track "Main Title" sums up the rest of the work to follow, an atmospheric celtic pipe opening riff with choral accompaniment that rolls into a tense string section and finishes with a comforting melody. The third track "Wallace Courts Murron" has a sorrowful pipe refrain that builds into an inspiring string melody that raises the spirits. "Attack on Murron" gets the ...

Advantages: Brilliantly composed, very original Disadvantages: Cover a little dull
This is the brilliant original soundtrack to the 1995 American historical/action drama; Braveheart. The film was produced and directed by the actor Mel Gibson, who also played the main role. It is the story of the real-life Scottish icon; William Wallace. This soundtrack, composed by the commendable James Horner, compliments the film brilliantly, from the action packed moments to the softer and more romantic parts. The celtic inspired elements, such ... ...as a listener and you can really feel the mood of the story. Horner was also responsible for the Titanic soundtrack, which was also a smash movie. The musical score is performed by the beautiful sounds of the recognised London Smphony Orchestra. The cover and insides show a couple of scenes from the film, but maybe could have been a little more attractive. This soundtrack won't be as expensive as it was when it was first released, but it is a lovely ...

starts. The lyrics are Celtic and are supplied by a female lead and then mixed choir. These voices all merge with the keyboard produced strings in the background. This song follows this formula for its entirety. Atmospheric and relaxing, but lacking in variation. - 6/10
17 - LondonSymphonyOrchestra - Theme From Braveheart (Main Title) - Strings, fiddles and the Irish bagpipe make up the intro to this familiar sounding song. This song is brilliantly composed and a wonder to listen too. As always, it is also atmospheric. There is a brass interlude which doesn't really add much to the song other than variation, but it's not a bad thing. - 8/10
18 - John Anderson Concert Orchestra - Riverdance - You all will probably know or at least recognise some of this track. Starting off with singing from a female lead and mixed choir, it soon ...

Album Notes
Personnel: James Horner (conductor, keyboards); Choristers of Westminster Abbey (vocals); Tony Hinnegan (kena, whistle); Eric Rigler (Uilleann pipes); Mike Taylor (bodhran, whistle); Ian Underwood (programming); London Symphony Orchestra. Recorded at EMI Abbey Road, London, England. Includes liner notes by Mel Gibson. All music written by James Horner. The haunting bagpipes, a shiver of strings behind them...you can almost feel the cool fog rolling in from the sea, and across a Scottish field. A battlefield, in this case, in the year 1314. It was then that a band of half-starved, hopelessly outnumbered Scottish patriots fought for freedom at a place called Bannockburn. John Horner's soundtrack to "Braveheart," the Mel Gibson film about that epic struggle, is a lustrous, many-faceted, at times stirring piece of work. Even without the images from the film dancing through your head, Horner's themes have staying power and emotional substance. He maintains the feel of place throughout, but never relies too heavily on obvious instrumental cliches (the pipes, for instance, are used sparingly). No doubt, tracks like "The Battle of Stirling" will resonate a bit more if you've seen "Braveheart." That said, Horner's score has a rare quality: It is cinematic, but also enjoyable on its own as orchestral music.
