The Bravery are being heralded as the next big thing. They are also being heralded as The Killers Mark II so do they offer anything different?

From the opener (current single) ‘An Honest Mistake’ you get the electro pulses that Suede or Blondie would be proud of. I love this song. Yes ok so it’s very Killers but they in themselves are genius. I really go like the mix of electro synths and vocals with rock/indie guitars and beats. Blondie should do this sorta stuff on their next album. This song is apparently about post 9/11 the bands lead singers bird cheating on him thinking the world was gonna end… hmmmm ok! Good tune though!

More indie sounding ‘No Brakes’ has a U2 and Red Hot Chilli Peppers feel. Its retro in the simple 60’s beat that runs through through the whole song! This song lacks electro of before but makes up for it in other ways, its very melodic in places andhas a ‘live’ feel to it as its quite raw and not over produced. Good track.

Everyone in press is raving about next song ‘Fearless’, I’m not feeling it at the moment in all honesty. Its good but its not the ‘awesome’ song I was expecting. Its very catchy and very synthy – but maybe it’s a grower cos its not making my jaw drop.

‘Tyrant’ on the other hand I really like from the start. This is very dark electro and very very very catchy. Its instant which the last song wasn’t. Maybe the reviewers all got a bit confused cos I think that this is superb. Love lyric ‘I’m stood like a pig, roasting in your eyes.’ Vocally aswell this song is very heartfelt and sees a higher set of notes than earlier songs which have the lower growel.

Another grower with ‘Give In’, it’s a bit repetitive and kinda doesn’t really go anywhere just stays on the same elctro-rock vibe the whole time. Not a favourite really. Its good, but not jaw droppingly! Its also very short.

‘Swollen Summer’ sounds like a poormans Razorlight at first. This is REALLY 80’s! It gets very catchy as it goes on and grows on you in one listen which is good. This has a summery vibe if you can call a merge of dark elctro-pop summery lol! Actually at the end of this song I’m loving it a bit!

This sounds silly but the start of ‘Public Service Announcement’ is really disco beat like, almost dance tuney! Soon enough the guitarsstart to take over and along comes the gravely vocals. This is like a male vocalised Blondie song sorta 70’s electro/disco/punk/pop! I really like this it’s a highlight!

Oh Doctor Who tune eat your heart out for first 20 secs of ‘Out Of Line’. Another great electro pop/rock song! This is another Killers song – but I cant help thinking Killers would have liked to have got there first with this tune. The backing beat to this is ridiculously catchy and instantly sticks in your head – I’ll be humming this later!

Now has ‘Unconditional’ been released already or is it gonna be released next as I keep hearing conflicting stories. This is another U2 starter, bit like Vertigo… kinda! Then its very 80’s rock and indie not electro in the slightest. Its good but its not my favourite.

I think the spirit of pop took over on ‘The Ring Song’ as it has a very very poppy backbeat. Almost electric bubbles if you can imagine that! The lyrics are more symplistic and poppy too ‘I must have had a good time cos I’m broke’. It’s a very ‘happy’ song, and makes an unusual change that works. I like this! The Darkness like vocals are kitsch too.

“You’re a woman who made me a man” repeats as the opening of ‘Rites of Spring’. I’m not sure about this tune at all! Hmmmm next song please!

Bonus track ‘Hot Pursuit’ ends the album and its superb from the off. Very very electro with lots of synths and strange noises. I really really like this song and its ashame it’s a bonus as it would set the charts alight! It’s a very good closing song and statement for the band.

Overall this is a good album. It would be groundbreaking – but The Killers got there first! However I think theres room for both, both in the charts and your CD collection!
