Few could challenge John Hughes in 1980s teen coming-of-age flicks. This brat-pack ... more
extravaganza boasts the anthemic "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds, a hit so large it vaulted them into the collective consciousness. The rest of it is more disposable. Elizabeth Daily (aka EG) was a kindred spirit of Pia Zadora in that people kept trying to make her famous, although in retrospect it's hard to figure out why. The Karla DeVito track "We Are Not Alone" still wears well, although it may be because it's synonymous with some great imagery from the movie. Producer Keith Forsey went on to work with Billy Idol and Charlie Sexton with mixed results. - -Scott Wilson

...ever seen and loved The Breakfast Club movie i would really say buy this album.
If you havent seen the movie or you have seen it but it didnt really have much of an impact on you, then don't buy it, it will do nothing for you.

If you havent seen the movie or you have seen it but it didnt really have much of an impact on you, then don't buy it, it will do nothing for you.
The album contains some very memorable songs from the movie and they arent all songs, some of them are just little musical dittys written for the movie itself. It really takes you back as you listen to it and you remember why you love this movie, and well the 80's in general.
Don't You Forget About Me. Simple Minds really hammer out this song from the 80's that I'm sure many of you remember. For the movie is it simply THE perfect song they could have chosen. It's about well not forgetting someone when they go away, and if you've seen the movie you'll know this fits so well at the end of the movie as you never really know what's going to happen at school on Monday.
Waiting. This was one of the songs used at the end of the movie if my memory serves. It didn't do much for the movie itself and its not very memorable, but after you've listened to it a couple of times it really grows on you. This Elizabeth is a really good, deep singer fits really well with the theme of the whole CD.
Fire In The Twilight. Before I even bought this album I loved this song. I heard it in the movie of course and it always makes that scene with Bender all the more brilliant. Its the scene where they are all running down the corridor trying to avoid the principal, so there's no dialogue in the movie when this song is playing, which makes it stand out more.
I'm The Dude (instrumental) I can't really say much about this because it was written for the movie so unless you've seen it you won't have heard of it. "sporto" had taken the drugs and was going a little wacko.
Heart Too Hot To Hold. Bit of a rock thing trying to come into play here, again it was played at the end of the movie so didnt do much for it unless you like to sit through the credits. not one of my faves on the album it has to be said. Works for the album i think
Dream Montage (instrumental) Again written for the movie so you won't have heard it unless you've seen the movie. Played in the part where everyone is falling asleep at their desks from boredom.
We Are Not Alone. Oh this song rocks! You don't need to watch the movie to enjoy this. Upbeat, rocking, deep woman singing song. Makes you just want to sing it out loud. Used nearly at the end of the movie where they are all dancing in their own ways to the radio. Bender and Andrew and Brien doing that march across the tables dance. Bender on the statue, and all the rest. "We are not alone, cos when you cut down to the bone we're really not so different after all"
Reggae, The (instrumental) Written for the movie, plays where Vernon is walking the corridors, very small part of this is played.
Didn't I Tell You. Again bit of rock here, love this song on its own. You may not even remember it from the movie, i certainly didn't. Only about 5 seconds of it is playing when the janitor Carl comes into the library to clean it and the radio is on in the background, you can hardly hear it. Shame!
Love Theme (instrumental) Andrew and Alice hook it up at the end, love in their eyes as they meet across a half empty libray room. Written for the movie again, a lovely little short ditty, as you listen to it the scene comes to mind, its very cute.
Don't be fooled, if you havent seen this movie, there is no point in getting the album, the reason being the music takes you back to remember why the movie is so good and also short pieces written for the movie, which if you havent seen it you won't understand or probably enjoy.
