I have heard all the comparisons. Delta Goodrem, Christina Aguilera, Leanne Rimes, and they may even go on. But despite this, Lucie Silvas seems to shine with her own sound and her own style.
Throughout the 13 track album her beautiful voice flows effortlessly over sometimes quiet and enchanting songs but perfectly compliments faster up tempo tunes. Without you ever having to read up on her background, the songs seem to be bravely displaying some very personal experiences and aspects of this young girls life.
Her frist single 'What You're Made Of' is a song I like to play loudly for the sheer excuse that it's just so damn good! It was an excellent choice for her debut into the music scene, and instantly catupulted her into the spotlight.
I first saw Lucie on a music channel after a night out, and sat down to listen because I had never heard of her before and was interested. And even though it was like 4 in the morning, and I was about to collapse onto the couch I watched the video and thought it was quite good. A friend soon recommended her album, and I don't regret buying it.
'Breathe In' is very uplifting, and certainly makes me feel better whenever I listen to it. 'The Game is won' and the covered version of Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters' are brilliant, but 'The Longer We're Apart' is an outstanding stand out track complete with gospel like singers and is the longest at 5 minutes and 53 seconds.
'Without You' is very Katie Melua like if you're familiar with Katie's album. It's not my favourite but has a gorgeous laid back light guitar strumming, drum beating song and above average lyrics.
'No Defence' and 'Forget Me Not' are sublime ballads that Lucie makes her own with her beautiful voice, that hits all the right notes, and is no enemy to your ears.
I would recommend this just like I was recommended it, because it's an album that really does shows a new talent emerging on the music scene.
Buy it and 'don't look back.' :)
