this album is excellent!!! there are many songs and a variety of styles for the price. even if you haven't seen the film, you are bound to find something to your taste here. i love the film because it feels real and has some memorable moments through great acting. here is my song by song analysis:

1. out of reach - gabrielle. this song is one that you feel like playing when you just don't seem to get what you want. happens to us all at some stage. some strong, deep heartbeat sounds at the beginning followed by sombre but release of tension lyrics.

2. respect - aretha franklin. fun, an alltime dancey classic and a contrast to gabrielle. this song instantly is recogniseable and is about women's independance. no need to wail about not getting the man but instead demand what you want!! thumbs up 4 the lady artists these days most certainly give more than 'a little respect'.

3. it's raining men - geri halliwell. although geri isn't the most talked about ex-spicegirl, her contribution to this album is nice. the song is a cover from the weather girls and the original tempo is maintained. i like the way geri subtely includes a reference to them by saying 'go get yourself wet girls'.

4. have you met miss jones? - robbie williams. brilliant! robbie sounds sexy, charming and is a good choice as an artist for this song. the direction robbie took nearby working on the tracks for bridget jones was to sing sinatra type songs. i rate rob's song here highly commendable for diversification on pre-released material.

5. i'm every woman - chaka khan. like aretha, this diva's vocals add power to this album. the song inspired whitney houston and when you hear it, there is no way it will ever date. i think that the beauty lies in the simplistic yet direct quality of a woman to adapt to make her man happy.

6. don't get me wrong - pretenders. i think this song is about the 'dazzle' side of love. I think the sounds are like a moving train, fast yet channeled in the right direction. A hit 4 me.

7. Kiss That Girl - Sheryl Crow. A grungy song and by a reputable artist. This song, if you like this kind of music, scrubs up nicely.

8. Killin' Kind - Shelby Lynne. This song is by an unknown artist compared to the others. Catchy and original.

9. Someone Like You - Dina Carroll. ROMANTIC!!!!! I love this the most. Would really enjoy dedicating this to my man.

10. Not Of This Earth - Robbie Williams. Again, very special and enjoyable. Robbie is superb. Laid back.

11. Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Andy Williams. A song used many times over universally. Sheer gratitude to this artist for making do many lives light up in true, happy, mesmorising, love.

12. Love - Rosey. This unknown has a husky voice and makes the album not monotonous. Good stuff.

13. Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart) - Dianna Ross & Marvin Gaye. No comparison to anything out there, duetwise these two charm the socks off anyone.

14. Dreamsome - Shelby Lynn. Great.

15. It's Only a Diary - Patrick Doyle. Nice to have an equal amount of males to females, this song fits in well.

16. Pretender Got My Heart - Alisha's Attic. 'I remember them' is what comes to mind when you hear this song. They had a few hits and only refresh in mind when you hear them as talked about few andfar between.

17. All By Myself - Jamie O'Neal. One to belt out.

18. Woman Trouble - Artful Dodger. Garagey and listenable for the blokes.

19. Ring, Ring, Ring - Aaron Soul. Garagey. Not bad if you are a teen.
