Bringing a Garden to Life Years ago, with the use of powerful insecticides and herbicides, gardeners did their level best to try to ensure that their garden was, in effect, starved of life. There were of course, always those gardeners who cautioned against such a chemical-based approach, warning that this was dangerous and would do more harm than good. Unfortunately, the gardeners who adopted (or rather stuck to) more natural and non-chemical-based horticultural regimens were mocked and derided, sneeringly referred to as: "all muck and magic" by gardening experts on the radio, TV and also in print. Sadly, those doing the attacking 'forgot' to inform the public that they were, in the main, sponsored by the major chemical manufacturers? But wiser counsel began to come to the fore and the so-called "muck and magic" was found ...

Bring It Onto Your Telly!

Advantages: Fun to watch, great soundtrack, good young cast
Disadvantages: Bit predictable

Lina is devastated when her mother Isabel marries a rich American man and they both have to leave their home in East LA and move to West LA into a big, posh house and a new stepsister she isn't mad keen on. Lina struggles to fit in, and it's made worse by Cheerleading team Jaguars captain Avery who is determined to put down Lina down at every turn. Lina's new step sister Skyler persuades her to join their own cheerleading team, the Sea Lions, but unfortunately they aren't very good and Lina can't turn them around on her own. She recruits her friends Treyvonetta and Gloria from East LA and the trio set about transforming the Sea Lions. Avery senses they are a threat, and soon the two teams are going head to head at the All Star Spirit Championships. It's a fight to the finish... who will be victorious? Review of Bring It On - Fight To The Finish (DVD)

To Bring You My Love - PJ Harvey

Advantages: Melodic,less punk than her last2albums.Vocally brilliant/lyrically stunning/musically unbeatable.
Disadvantages: I cant think of ANY negative points and I have listened to this album for more than a decade!

To Bring You My Love is probably one of my most played albums since I first got it as a teenager! I really cant rate this album highly enough and the reason for this one being held in higher esteem than all her previous albums is simply that this album has a new found freedom the others dont seem to have. Polly J Harvey split from Robert Ellis and Stephen Vaughn, which gave her the freedom to experiment and deviate from the old bluesy punk that dominated PJ Harvey's first two albums. Although her previouos albums to this were very good and definitely a lot better than most of the bands around at that time, they seemed to focus too much on the harsh brutallity that punk is famed for (which is all good and well) but 'To Bring You My Love' gives a more complex theatrical variety of emotions to deal with.
