Outsyders and Lil to Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and Lady Gaga--Britney's new album, Circus is clearly a determined effort to haul herself back to the top of the pops after a particularly rocky year. Lead single Womanizer", with its stuttering drumbeat, buzzing synths and hooky chorus, is reminiscent of the album's other sonic firework, the raunchy If U Seek Amy". These fiery missives indicate that Britney is back on form--but many other songs come across as damp squibs in comparison. Her extensive use of Auto-Tune adds a robotic aspect to her voice, rendering certain songs less engaging than they could be (the 80s electro of Leather & Lace" and the title track are two examples). Opener Mannequin", the ballad Out from Under" and Kill the Lights" (a song about the paparazzi) come close to previous form, but still lack the essential spark needed to make Circus the album it could --and should--have been. --Danny McKenna

OK so its early hours in the morning and i cant get to sleep so i thought hey what the hell i haven't wrote a review for ages ( reason cause my computer was broke so the only place i could get on was at collage/school) so ill write a review now ha ha. question is what do i write it on? for some reason i feel like writing it on Britney spears, the person who strangely enough i still really really like, yes she has screwed up her life...a lot but as far as her music and a person goes i think it/she is amazing. Although I'm into heavier music than this i absolutely love Britney spears...its strange. this album "Britney" is my favorite by her. i love the songs, the music videos, the lyrics and the music from this album.
Britney is the third album recorded by Britney spears and it was realised in 2001 during November. it is/was aimed at teens (like myself) and is a for lovers of pop/dance music (unlike my self although i still love it) from this album, the songs slave 4 u, overprotected, not a girl not yet a women, boys, and I love rock n roll were realised as a single. the album got to number 1 in seven different countries including the U.S and Mexico.
the first song:
slave 4 u
the opening track speaking about her independents and making her own life. it shows the raunchy sexy side of Britney spears in he video. the music i average and the lyrics are catchy, i feel as if the song kind of drags on a little. And perhaps its a little too raunchy for girls of about 8 years old to be listening to but all in all its a good song but nothing more than good. the song for lasts for 3.22 .
Overprotected:
this is probably my favorite song by Britney spears(also a very embarrassing memory as a i did a dance to it for a school concert when i was about 11), with its catchy lyrics and good music. once again it speaks about how she is growing up and she is going to do what she feels like. I suppose it helps some 13 year olds that feel their like is hard and there parents hold them in too much and they just wanna break free (thankfully I'm not one.) so i think this song can relate to a lot of yon people out there which is a good thing. there was 2 videos of this song released one the original and the other a remix by dark child, both are amazing. this song lasts for a total of 3.53
Lonely:
I'm not over keen on the verses until it gets the chorus and bridge, its gets a little more i dunno kick ass lol. its also about being strong and not going for 2nd best when it comes to men. strangely enough there is also a slight but of rap in this song. its a good song by britney spears. very enjoyable, lasting for a total of 3.21
Not A Girl, Not Yet A Women:
I think everyone has to like this song, its such a wonderful song. another song which young girls can relate to. when they feel they aren't children but not women so they can listen to this song and not feel alone which i thinks rather sweet (once again thankfully i am not one of these people) this song was also in film Crossroads which Britney had the main part in but strangely it didn't do very well, personally i think the film was great. the song last for a blissful 3.47
Boys:
this song has 2 different versions, one featuring pharrell and the other umm not featuring pharrell lol. the one featuring pharrell was done as part of te sound track of gold member, Austen Powers. i love the video its enjoyable, like the first song on he album though i think its a little too raunchy for young children to be listening to which is what the album is aimed at.the song lasts for a total of: 3.35
Anticipating an average song, nothing too great. this song was actually realised as a single in France and Brazil (i think) getting to number 38 not surprising considering this is Britney spears this song isnt one of her best. it just seems to drone on for almost 3 minutes.
I Love Rock 'n' Roll I love this song both the original and Britney's version. it has a great rock affect. although i do think the lyrics could be improved but as far as the music goes and the way its preformed amazing!!!!. this song was played in the film crossroads showing Britney and her friends singing this song in some sleazy club earing At of cash from it. Cinderella probably another favorite song of hers its got a rock affect to it. as the song gets on in the verses through to the chorus its gets better. once again the same story line is about not going for 2nd best with men. my favorite bit in the song has to be a the spoken bit towards the ending. it gives the song such a dark, negative but good affect. as i listen to this song i feel as if there are lots of emotions through it. it's one of those songs were once you have listened to it once you have to listen to it again This song lasts about 3.50.
Let Me Be from her other songs on this album its very different in a good way, it doesn't get really good till he end of the first verse/ beginning of the chorus. once again it relates to 12 year olds feeling as if they have no one and this song shows them that they are not alone, this last for under 3 minutes so not a very long song.
Bombastic Love I love this song, another one of my favourites by Britney spears. the beggining starts og as the same as the beggining of overprotected in the video. this song has great lyircs, great music and a great affec from the way its sung. my favourite bit of this song it as its heading words the end as it ives of great music affects, This song lasts for just over 3 mins.
That's Where You Take Me This is a nice melodic tune, with good sounding. the lyrics are so sweet and nice, as if someone were in love. the music is good with a slow but also racing affect. this song lasts for about 3.39 mins.
When I Found You I like the lyrics of this song but i dont like the way its sung or preformed. i find this a shame becasue the lyrics are truly beautiful. and although the song is preformed slow and calm its just doesn't give it all that it could. although during the middle of the song it does get a little better. this song lasts for:3.35 mins
Before The Goodbye this song has a bit of rap in it which i find strange from Britney. i love this song although i can't help thinking of the euro vision song contest when ever i hear it mostly during the chorus it just reminds me of whats done on the euro vision. a great song though. lasting for about 3.47 mins
What It's Like To Be Me last song of the album and such a disappointment, nit much to say apart from everything about this song is bad, the lyrics, music etc.. lasting for a horrifying 2.50mins
so that's my view on the album and apart from the odd few songs i love the album, its possible to buy this album from most music stores and also from alot of supermarkets selling CD's normal price can vary from about £4- £12 which isnt too bad, out of all the albums she has done it has to be her best far. thanks for reading.

...the world of pop music Britney style. I am cringing as I put the CD into the drive, and I feel that I may be scarred by this experience, but in the name of honest reviews, I will put my doubts to one side and give you all my honest and truthful opinion. You have probably guessed that I am no Britney fan, I just think she is pushed in our faces far too much, although I have to admit that I thought she was pretty foxy in her video for 'Hit Me Baby'. ... ...move on the part of Britney and her advisers as I am sure they released that the teeny boppers were growing up, and if the music did not grow with them then they would drop it like a hotcake and move onto something else. 'Overprotected' is reportedly a song that was written with Britney's father Jamie in mind, as he tends to try and wrap her up in cotton wool, and it has caused a lot of tension between them. It starts very much like 'Slave', it is ...

Advantages: Some fantastic tracks Disadvantages: A couple of not so good additions
...definitely not the world's biggest Britney fan, as although I like a lot of her early stuff I am not at all fond of some of her most recent albums. When Britney released her first album in 1999 she was only 18 years old. I myself was only 9 years old and so her pop stance to music really appealed to me. To be perfectly honest I think that this style of music suited her much better than some of her later outings. To date Britney has released six albums ... ...Overprotected**
This track begins with Britney speaking but then with a brilliant drumbeat, that continues throughout the rest of the track, the main of the song starts. The beat is strong and punchy rather like the lyrics, which listening to do tell a good story. The vocals are solid throughout and the style of her voice really suits the track. 9/10
**TRACK 3 - Lonely**
The backing track to this song is also one with a steady drumbeat that holds ...

Advantages: Better Than First Two Albums, Some Good Producers, Some Original Tracks. Disadvantages: A Bit Samey, Not Quite Lost That Bubblegum Pop Image, Some Songs Are Just Too Average.
Now I am no Britney fan, quite the opposite. When I went shopping with my best friend he decided to buy me a copy of Britney’s self titled album. For some very strange reason he thought I actually liked her. He disappeared for five minutes to get it without me noticing. There I was putting on an Oscar worthy performance shouting, “Max, I love it THANK YOU!” when really in my head I was thinking, “why couldn’t he have just bought me Alicia Keys?”
... ...definitely not in the usual Britney style. These songs were much more original.
If you’re a hard-core Britney fan don’t worry. Britney hasn’t lost her style just yet, she’s just slowly changing it, but it’s not quite vanished yet. Britney is growing out of that bubblegum pop phase and notably, so are her fans so isn’t it just natural to let the music grow with her. Well I think that’s what Britney’s trying to do. With her first album Britney was ...

Advantages: a different sound, mature songs Disadvantages: some songs are a bit boring, her voice doesn't go well with every song
Britney has produced a completely different sound for this album than recent ones. It has a pop sound still but mature sound. Some of it is for the better some for the worst. I was quite disappointed at first when hearing this but then after a while I started to like the sound. The tracklisting is as follows: 1.I'm A Slave 4 U (3:23) 2.Overprotected (3:18) 3.Lonely (3.19) 4.I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman (3:51) 5.Boys (3:26) 6.Anticipating (3:16) ... ...U:This is the first single Britney released from her album. It got to No4 here in the Uk I'm sure. I really like this song because it has an unusual sound but catchy. It was a good song to release first from the album and I really like it. 2.Overprotected:I'm sure this is the next single to be released from the album, this is one song from the album which sounds more like her usual stuff and it has a good beat to it and it's a song everyone has to ...

...to her music than before. Britney has combined pop, R'n'B', Rock and dance in this album, unlike her previous material with nothing but pop.
Britney's voice has also developed to a more higher standard. Although she doesn't have the most brilliant vocal talents when compared to other pop princesses such as Christina Aguilera, Britney can put on a brilliant show when live or not, she would be what you call a "true entertainer" because she dances ... ...therefore another R'n'B song. After Britney starred in Austin Powers, this song was recreated with the Neptunes, so therefore released as the fourth single. This is a brilliant song and the Austin Powers saoundtrack version is even better.
6)Anticipating: This is a typical pop song, which you see Britney releaing before this album. It is a very freah tune but a typical chick song.
7) I love roc 'n' roll: This is Britney's version of the classic, ...

****Circus - BritneySpears****
BritneySpears needs no introduction by now as this is her 6th album.
*01. WOMANIZER (3.43)*- "superstar"
The first track to be released from the album if you don't include radar as it was in her last album.Quite upbeat but the words are a bit repetitive, i suppose it does suit the song though as i think it supposed to make a point.Gone a bit off it as i have heard it far too much 3/5.
*02. CIRCUS (3.12)*- "there are only 2 types of guy out there-the ones that hang with me and the ones that are scared"
As you can see this track name was used for the name of the album.Very up beat .One of my favourite tracks on the album.4/5
*03.OUT FROM UNDER (3.54)*- "i don't want to dream about.."One of the less cheerful tracks on the album.I think it drags on a bit so i often just skip it. 2/5

"Overprotected" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Well, the question is no longer whether she's a little girl or a woman--Britney Spears has obviously been the latter for some time. The question now is how long she'll be able to pretend at keeping us guessing, and how long we'll pretend not to know the answer. With BRITNEY she continues the dance of corrupted youth and innocence to the delight of both her female fans and dirty old and young men everywhere. While it's by no means the best song on the album, the ballad "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" typifies her commercial appeal (interestingly, though she writes several songs here, this one was written for her). The songs that ring truest here are those penned by Spears herself, such as the Chic-influenced "Anticipating" and the R&B flavored "Lonely," which play down the innocent girl/tart predicament in favor of presumably more realistic scenarios such as checking out her lipstick in the former and relationship dilemmas in the latter. Elsewhere she convincingly reduces Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" to its bubblegum essentials, while her interpretation of main squeeze Justin Timberlake's "What It's Like to Be Me" is arguably BRITNEY's finest moment.
