Broken Toys' Corner - D'Arcangelo

Advantages: Great lyrics - depressingly upbeat
Disadvantages: A little cheesy in parts

...This album is Broken Toy Shop by E. Background: E is the singer in the band Eels. This album preceded his work with Eels. I was first introduced to Eels about 6 or 7 years ago. I needed a CD to listen to as I was getting bored of some of the albums that I had in my collection. I really only started getting interested in music about 8 years ago or so, and had heard an Eels song before, so I asked to borrow this from my friend. This proved to be one of the best ideas I’d ever had!! I’ve said in other reviews how much I love the artists I’m talking about but Eels were one of my favourite bands and still are!! Advantages: Fresh UK artist,15 original tracks,contains his 3 hits
Disadvantages: a couple of similar tracks

...Boy In Da Corner is the debut album of Londons own Dizzee Rascal. Boy In Da Corner is a breath of fresh air in a market dominated by American acts. The album contains 15 original tunes with thought provoking lyrics. Dizzee Rascal, this years Mercury Music Award winner exploded on to the scene with 'Fix up, look sharp' and 'I Luv U'. Both of which are on the album. His new hit - 'Jus A Rascal' is another fresh track by Diz and his 'Roll Deep' Crew. As you would expect with his style of music there is a number of gun and women references which can only be put down to his own experience. The album contains quality tracks like his three hits and original and bright tracks like 'Hold Ya Mouf' and 'Jezebel'. Advantages: Jack White & Brendan Benson
Disadvantages: A Bit Depressing

...The Raconteur's (Jack Lawrence, Brendan Benson, Jack White and Patrick Keeler) Debut album, Broken Boy soldiers is a breath of fresh air in the music world! Benson & White's vocals go surprisingly well together and the album manages to retain a good blues feel to it throughout (although this is mainly a rocky album). White's haunting guitar playing and solos bring a great "AIR" to the songs. Backed up by Keeler's superb Drumming and Held together by Jack Lawrence's chunky Baselines. I'm going to stick with "Steady, As She Goes" (track 1) as the best song on the album and unsurprisingly this was released as a single. Cover/Inlay: On the cover is a gothic-style photo of the band.
