Advantages: It's Beer Disadvantages: Hangovers (if you have to stop drinking)
As a kid I didn't know any better. When I first started hitting the pubs I used to drink bottles of K cider, pints of mild & bitter. I even, and I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, bought the odd half every now & then.
It's not something I'm proud of.
There's nothing wrong with bitters if you're middle-aged & have a beard, cider is also fine if you have leanings in that direction and if you're a pensioner and can still find it then drink mild by all means but if you're a youngish man (or lady in some more relaxed areas of the country) then lager should be the alcoholic beverage of choice.
The best selling lager in the UK is Carling and in my opinion it's the only one that tastes correct from a can or a glass. If you want to drink lager from the bottle then go with Bud (buts that's a different review).
Carling currently ...
Advantages: Crisp light refreshing taste, great for relaxing with Disadvantages: crisp light refreshing taste could result in drunkeness unless self control is used
I think that carlingblack label as a lager is ver often underrated and overlooked. This particular brand has always been a favourite of mine.
I find the taste crisp and refreshing when its served ice cold the perfact remedy to a hot summers afternoon.
Another thing I like about this brand is that its not too strong in its contents of alchohol coming up at 4% unlike other largers I have seen ranging up to 8% or more.
The price of this larger is also quite appealing, in most shops there is always some sort of special offer relating to cans of carling, for example my local select and save sells it for £3.50 for four cans or £5.5 for eight. You cant argue with the value of money in that. ...
Advantages: Great noir detective fiction Disadvantages: None for me
Ezekiel (Easy) Rawlins is down on his luck and worried about mortgage payments when he is offered a job as a private detective, investigating the disappearance of a white woman called Daphne. As Rawlins' employer, DeWitt Albright, believes that Daphne is hiding somewhere in Los Angeles' black district, Rawlins starts his investigation by speaking to some friends of his. One of them, Coretta, knows Daphne, and gives Rawlins some useful information, but when she is found bludgeoned to death the next day, Rawlins is the number one suspect. Can Rawlins avoid being charged for a murder he didn't commit and find out what happened to Daphne? Or is he involved in a bigger intrigue than he realised?
Made back in 1995, this film seems even older than that because it is set back in the 1940s and is based on hardboiled detective fiction a la ...
