...-one years he wrote around a thousand works, including the very well known Unfinished Symphony and the Trout Quintet (for five instruments ? piano and strings), named after a song he wrote (The Trout) which is used as the basis for a set of variations. His special gift was for writing good tunes ? some have been turned into popular songs ? and this makes his music easily approachable. ...It is entirely due to Floon’s enthusiastic review of Schubert’s Quintet that I am writing this. I was browsing the classical reviews seeking some recommendations to try and happened upon this. I only have one example of Schubert in my collection (Rosamund) and quite enjoy it so thought I would give this a go too. So off to the Library I went and returned clutching The Raphael Ensemble’s superb rendition of the String quintet. Oh joy – Oh heaven I seem to have hit the jackpot of chamber music. Schubert’s life is the quintessential example of the romantic notion of the neglected genius who dies in obscurity. An entire generation passed before his most substantial achievements even saw the light of day. The quintet is among them. Advantages: Great well known strings.
Disadvantages: Suck with tone towards the end of their life.

...INTRODUCTION: First off these are guitar strings for electric guitars, acoustic guitars ( that are amplified to become electoacoustics with similar circuitry as electric guitars) But not classical guitars, with Nylon strings :-) As with all products these days, a review on just plain old " Ernie Ball Strings " is very wide and open ! So I will be basing mine on use with the following products only. Nickel ( not the brighter / treble accenting steel ones !!! ) wound electric guitar strings "SUPER SLINKY" ( "9's " / "9-42" ) 9, 11, 16, 24, 32, 42. "REGULAR SLINKY" ( "10's " / "10-46" ) 10, 13, 17, 26, 36, 46. "SLINKY TOP HEAVY BOTTOM" ( "10-52" ) 10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 52.
