Advantages: The best by one of the best Disadvantages: None
...Mention the 60s in musical terms, and though the Beatles and Rolling Stones are out front, The Move were very close behind. They were a fractious lot behind the scenes, but throughout the personnel changes, the creative talents of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (and reluctant front man after the departure of initial lead vocalist Carl Wayne) Roy Wood ensured that as a singles band they were, and remained, a force to be reckoned with. This compilation contains all the singles from 1967 to 1970 (yes, the title got it slightly wrong), and the B-sides were never throwaways. The band had initially wanted the eerie mock-psychedelic "Disturbance" to be their first A-side, though the record company opted instead for "Night Of Fear" (a song which got by with a little help from Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" in the guitar riff department...

Advantages: Good compilation of The Smiths for someone wanting to get into the band, or someone with an interest in their music Disadvantages: Some of their best material weren't released as singles, and so aren't on this album. Not as good as 'Very Best of the Smiths'
...was obviously pretty annoyed and so stuck the song onto every future compilation to wreak revenge. (The Smiths released compilation albums called ‘Hatful of Hollow’, ‘The World Won’t Listen’ and ‘Louder Than Bombs’ which included live songs, B Sides and album tracks as well as singles. Only ‘The World Won’t Listen’ escaped having ‘Hand in Glove’ put on its tracklisting.
Any good?
A very promising start to the Smiths career, and this album, the track list of which is the same as the chronological order the singles were released, though puzzlingly ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’ and ‘The Boy with a Thorn in his Side’ are the wrong way around in the album’s order. 7/10

Advantages: Write their own music, play their own instruments and have a variety of sounds Disadvantages: They are 'on a break'
...’ was its B Side ‘2.59’ which showed a rocker edge to the band and it seemed insane it wasn’t an album track or used as a single itself.
The album was a huge change both music wise, style wise and personally for the band. Eventually they seemed to be receiving the recognition they deserved and were loosing their boy band tag. The band ditched their dance routines and instead played their instruments and being able to do that meant a lot to them. I confess on a1’s first two albums the majority of it was cheese and not my kind of music. But I was luck enough (or unlucky some might say!) to know the band personally so I always supported them but with the ‘Make it Good’ album I couldn’t stop listening to it.
The album showed the true A1 which was actually quite rocky. I truly believe if A1 had released the ‘Make it Good’ album first...
