Advantages: Great location, clean and tidy, helpful staff Disadvantages: Expensive for Thai prices, a little noisey at night depending on your room
Buddy Lodge
I booked Buddy Lodge for my very first visit to Thailand having had it recommended by a couple of people. I was travelling from the UK alone and was being collected at the airport, but wanted to stay for a few days in Bangkok before moving down to my new home in Hua Hin.
Location
The hotel is located on the very busy Koh San Road in Bangkok, which is a haven for travellers from all over the world and aptly nicknamed "the centre of the backpacking universe". The street is actually heaving all day and well into the night with stalls, tuk tuks and bars. It?s towards the top of the street and you are likely to get dropped on in your taxi at this end if you?re travelling from the airport.
The road is approximately 1km long which only spans a couple of blocks but is home to countless budget guesthouses ...
Right now I have a cup of tea right beside me (as usual!) and what I could do with most is a nice great big pile of biscuits to accompany it! Unfortunately there are none in the house at the moment, which is a disappointment! What I crave the most is a rich tea biscuit. We'd bought a packet from the Tesco Value range last week, and when there was still about half a packet left I reached for them in the cupboard and the whole lot fell onto the floor, broken in tiny little pieces. Oh great! They were so delicious, so tasty...
You can recognise the Tesco Value rich teas as they come in a white and blue packet, as do the rest of their range. On the front there is an image of the pictures, to lure you closer if nothing else! They look incredibly tasty, and have an equally satisfying price tag to match! I paid just 30p for my packet ...
impressive What Kind of woman is this.
**The Album**
1.) Now You're Gone
This track is a cover of a classic Curtis Mayfield track and starts with an ear catching guitar break which leads into the gut wrenching blues melody. In this version Buddy Guy manages to take a classic song and completely reinvent it to make it sound so original. An awesome cover version. His vocals and guitar playing are both awesome.
2.) Ninety Nine and one half
This is probably the least well known of the classic tracks on this album but this is a fine reworking of Wilson Picketts track. On this track Buddy's guitar playing is a lot like BB King but still keeping his own style. Buddy's authorative vocals are a pleasure to listen to and also have elements of another blues and soul great Solomon Burke.
