Advantages: Brilliant songs, musical progression, emotional, one of the best albums ever Disadvantages: May not appeal to some older fans, emotional, perhaps not as diverse as previous releases
...this song! The Burning Red The crowning glory. All MH albums include a slower track ('I'm Your God' or 'Violate') but this takes it one step further. This could (I hesitate to write this) be called a 'power ballad', but don't think it won't be good for that! The band were initially unsure whether to include it, but it turned out to be the perfect ending to a perfect album. It has a soft, calming effect that gently relieves the emotional high generating ... ...depressed (or both!) Right, now that's done those of you skipping forward can re-join us (although I recommend you go back and read the above later anyway!) We can discuss the album in general. Let's start with the impersonal bit. If you want to know what professional reviewers thought, I can tell you right now: Metal Hammer 9/10 album of the month Rock Sound 5/5 Kerrang! 4/5 album of the week (Both Metal Hammer and Kerrang! suggested a point was ...

Advantages: stonking good toons Disadvantages: none (some swearing)
...From the haunting 'The burning red' to the stomping 'The blood, The sweat, The tears' ~ This 'rock' album goes from strength to strength, mixing rap around a strong moshing bass and drums, when you're in a club and it's being played loud, there is nothing you can do but get up and boogie! 'Nothing left' is such an angry young mans record, that i can just see the lead singer shouting out of the sterio! 'From this day' is one of the funkiest on the ...

Advantages: Beautifully flowing album, contains at least 6 of the best songs of all time Disadvantages: Screaming bits grate on you after a while
I was a fan of the original Machine Head style and when this came out it was subjected to a lot of abuse from my friends, due to the diverse new sound and Hip-hop influence. I thought differently, and saw the album as a brave step into a more mature sound. It is overall more polished than the previous outings. Its a beautifully made album. Starting with the sublime "Enter the Pheonix", which sets the scene perfectly, you know you're in for one hell ... ...this song is the theme throughout the album.
Next you're blasted back into the realms of Planet Machine-Head with the explosive "Desire to Fire". One of the more "rappier" tunes, it gets you bouncing like only metallers know how. This however, is when you first realise that Machine Head has changed.
The rest of the songs follow the same sort of guise. Full of emotion, they all seem to break into a slow, melodic bit about two thirds of the way through, ...

Advantages: Cheesy '80's song re-vamped Disadvantages: it annoys your neighbours
The Burning Red shows Machinehead to have quite a range of musical skills, not just shouting and thumping their instruments. They manage to recreate some highly atmospheric sounds in and amongst the noise.
My favourite songs from the album have to be 'From this Day' (the one that gets played in all alternative clubs), 'Message in a Bottle', and 'Desire to Fire'. 'Desire...' is a tracke very reminiscent of many of todays metal bands and, perhaps ... ...It is very musically done and offers much for the listener. Needless to say, it's not much like the original.
All in all 'The Burning Red' is an excellent example of Machinehead, and should be at least listened to by anyone who has a liking of metal. ...

Wicked albumb Review ofBurning Red, The - Machine Headby

Advantages: good Disadvantages: bad
This album completely rules. It is one of their best albums yet, and I still really love listeing to it. This album combines the classic styles of the 1980's with the modern sound production techniques of today. The result is this amazing compilation of past sting music and modern guitar "incubus" type music. The songs never get boring even though I listen to them every day for 2 hrs before i go to school. This album is seriously good, with a nice ...

Advantages: The use of guitar skills, harmonics and harmonies, it has it all Disadvantages: The songs are long in length
...Through out the years MachineHead have continued to produce music that re-defines the metal genre.
The release of the album Supercharger in 2001, which is MachineHead's biggest failure was, for me, the end of an era. BurningRed and Burn My Eyes were the sound that became recognizable as the MachineHead sound, it was completely unique.
And I'm thrilled to say that that sound is back.... with a vengeance!!
This album is the best released, so far, this year, it's truly astonishing.
Their use of harmonics and harmonies came through strongly in Through The Ashes Of Empires and it continues in this album.
If you're looking for an album that will have your fisting clenched and punching the air, this is it.
If you're looking for an album which will amaze the young guitarists, this is it.
If you're looking for an album which...

...My first trip into monster magnet terroritory and and I will definetly do it again.Powertrip is an amazing album combining Metal,Heavy rock and indie. This contrast in styles may put some die-hard metallers off straight away but fear not this is superb even some non metallers will find this album fantastic. Songs like powertrip Will in fact teach you how to fly and space lord just makes this album even better .Add this album to your collection know bfore it sells out. Although it has been around for 2 years it still sounds as fresh as the day I bought it.Korn fans and fans of MachineHeads "The burningred" will also love this album even if it is not quite as heavy as some albums it is still fantastic....

Advantages: Hilarious in places, top quality nostalgia Disadvantages: Seriously sacrilegious in other places
..., applying Sully’s typical ‘Metallica-lite’ vocals to supposedly more crunchy guitar, all to little effect. This reversion of the classic weed-anthem is strictly for Godsmack fans only, and just sounds like a band privately having a sing-along with classic Ozzy. Even the cough is redone!
2. MachineHead- Hole in the Sky- Although Flynn and co’s credibility went down the drain with the release of their rap fuelled ‘The BurningRed’, their take on Hole in the Sky is suitably potent. However it is sad to hear MachineHead needing every trick in the nu-metal handbook to sound heavy. The guitar uses an unnecessary amount of effects, there is a solo of a looped breakbeat, there is an acid synth used to little effect, and Flynn appears to imitate Corey from Slipknot in the vocal build up and dirge at the end...
