I am a Beatles fan, and upon hearing that members of the metal and rock family were releasing this album I was excited, yet filled with a slight feeling of apprehension. This album is not like the other Beatles tribute albums, but instead is in a class of its own. Featuring top musicians from the rock and metal genre this CD promised to be a screeching, howling head banging take on several Beatles classics. And the first track sticks to this promise. Alice cooper's vocals make 'Hey Bulldog' his own, accompanied on guitar by Steve Vai, this track is not only a catchy tune but prepares you for what is to come. Several tracks feature very unique vocal stylings from the likes of Motorheads Lemmy and Ex Judas Priest/Iced Earth singer Tim "Ripper" Owens. I am a Beatles fan, and upon hearing that members of the metal and rock family were releasing this album I was excited, yet filled with a slight feeling of apprehension. Could The Beatles songs really be pulled off with screaming vocals and raging guitars? Well after listening, yes, yes they can. By doing this, not only have the artists paid homage to their heroes but they have created an updated selection of musical history. The feel of the album changes throughout, with 'Hey Jude' being a prime example. Starting with vocals and guitar in quiet harmony, slowly building up to an amazing finale, everything just sounds right. These artists were meant to cover these songs. Another great point of this album is how enjoyable it was to listen to, be it loud or quiet as background music this CD can be enjoyed again and again. In short if you are a fan of The Beatles, the metal/rock genre as a whole, or just wanting to expand your musical tastes by trying something new. I recommend this album, great buy, amazing tracks from beginning till end, and one hell of a tribute.
