Advantages: A really varied album from an inspiring singer-songwriter Disadvantages: maybe not a particularly good order of tracks
...it track by track. (Some of the songs are hard to describe, and I know I'm not doing them justice, but I hope you know what I mean.)
1. Buildings and Bridges
This is a good opening track, not too loud and not too calm, with a strong riff and thought-provoking lyrics. This song certainly shows that Ani has a unique voice.
2. Out of Range (acoustic)
A great song, getting a message across.
“I was locked/into being my mother's daughter/I was just eating bread and water/thinking nothing ever changes/I was shocked”
It has a fairly simple arrangement, but is effective. It is quite different to the electric version, so it works well to have both versions as it is the title track, and they bring different elements to the album.
3. Letter to a John
A rather bitter song, but it proves a point. Not one of my favourites, but I think it adds...

Advantages: Some purely amazing piano based tracks, an incredible voice in many places Disadvantages: Some rubbish pop songs that cheapen the album considerably, her voice in places

Advantages: Some of the most enoyable songs in the film are included Disadvantages: Some of the better songs have been missed off
...Any fan of the movie is sure to love this soundtrack, though those who have yet to view it may still find some gems in here.
Great for those who like a bit of variety in their music, as this soundtrack features rock, pop, indie, electro and hip hop, and is very upbeat and fun music, which makes it great for parties and the like.
Fans of the film will be pleased to know that the famous 'Mathlete Rap' as sung in the film, is featured in full on this cd, along with all of them most famous and enjoyable songs featured in 'Mean Girls'.
Sticking to the theme of the movie, this CD is very female artist heavy, and teamed with the bitchy girl rock nature of the songs, it is likely that men will not enjoy this product as much as their female counterparts
Most of the tracks are instantly likable, but there are some noticable exceptions...
