Boyzone - By request
For me this takes me back to my teenage years and I have taken it out of my long lost selection of music CD's to have a listen. I have to admit its a lot more relaxing that I thought it would be. I am going to describe and rate each track out of 5. I will also give the length of each song in minutes and seconds.
1. I love the way you love me (3.49) 5/5
It starts off with a fluttery magical orchestra playing. Ronan and Stephen sing in the song and their voices sound soft. It's a romantic type of song. I have to admit I'm biased though as it was the first song I danced to on my wedding day. The orchestra plays throughout giving it a dreamy feel. The song is about they love the way someone loves them even their bad points. All the silly little things they do.
2. No matter what (4.36) 5/5
Another slow song, which has a soft, beat to it. You find yourself singing along to this one, as it is catchy. It is about no matter what happens their love is forever. The violins play in the middle making it have an edgy feel to it with the orchestra playing making it relaxing to listen to.
3. All that I need (3.44) 4/5
This song is about a girl being all that they need, the title really gives it away. It is about a man being lost as his girl has left him. It is a typical Boyzone style song it's a slow pop song, which is easy to sing along to. It has a soft beat throughout and the chorus is catchy.
4. Baby can I hold you (3.17) 4/5
This is a sad song, which is slow. The song is about being sorry and they want them to forgive them. They find it hard to
use words to express themselves. You can hear trumpets throughout the song, which are soft and relaxing.
5. Picture of you (3.32) 4/5
A more up-tempo song which could get you jigging to the beat. I will always remember this song for the Mr Bean film. It is about someone driving them mad and at the end of the day they were the only person they could rely on. It really gives out the message that you shouldn't judge people before you get to know them. I find myself tapping my feet to the beat. The drums are being played and it has a slight jazzy feel to it. The trumpets play giving it a nice beat and I like the tune they in the middle.
6. Isn't it a wonder (3.47) 4/5
This is a slow song, which is similar to the others, with the orchestra playing. It is about all the little things in life being a wonder and they have changed now they have been heartbroken. The guitar is playing softly throughout.
7. A different beat (4.18) 3/5
I have to admit listening to this song now it seems rather cheesy. It sounds like a storm is brewing at the start with people chanting. It is about wanting the world to become one no matter where anyone is from. Eeeyaayoo eeyaayoo is the chorus which I don't know what it means but you will find yourself shouting it even time the chorus comes along. The tract is slightly faster than some of the other songs on the album but it still has Boyzone's style to it.
8. Words (4.06) 5/5
This song to me is the most known my husband thinks he sounds like Ronan every time he sings it. Though sadly he does not lol! It is a slow song with the piano and violins playing throughout. It is a song about a man trying to tell a girl that he loves her but she doesn't believe the words he is saying.
9. Father and son (2.49) 3/5
It's a slow song, which gets you thinking. It is about a father taking to his son and giving him advice. It sounds a lot like the other songs really to me.
10. So good (3.06) 2/5
This has got a funky beat to it at the start, which is different and is pure cheesy pop! I remember the silly dances Boyzone used to do with this song, makes me laugh thinking about it now. It is a faster song and to be honest it is pretty bad but I thought it was great when I was younger. The song is about being so good, which again the song title gives away.
11. Coming home now (3.48) 3/5
Another slow and typical boy band song which is trying to be sexy and cool with the soft talking and soft talking and singing. I have to say the chorus is catchy as you do find yourself singing along to it. It is about coming home after a long time.
12. Key to my life (3.47) 4/5
I like this song as it has a nice beat to it. Again the orchestra and piano can be heard clearly. It about a girl being perfect for them and their life got much better once they met them. It is a typical boy band song but for some reason I think it is slightly better others which are similar.
13. Love me for a reason (3.41) 3/5
Another song which you find yourself singing along to. It is a pure pop song, which would appeal to teenagers. It is slightly faster and during the chorus you will find yourself swaying to the beat. It is about them wanting a girl to love them for a reason and not just use them.
14. When the going gets tough (3.40) 3/5
This song has a silly vibe to it with a macho feel to it at the start with men chanting when the going get going the tough gets going! Then the trumpets come in to the build up to Ronan singing. Then there is a fast beat which sort of sounds computerised. It is about doing anything for someone no matter how tough things are.
15. You needed me (3.31) 3/5
This song has been slowed down lots and is very dreamy. All you can hear is the guitar and piano playing softly with the triangle and drums beating softly. The song is about someone being there when he needed her. It really fits in with the soppy and romantic feel throughout the album. At the end the choir sing along.
16. When you say nothing at all (4.20) 5/5
This song remind me of Notting Hill and it is has a nice feel to it. It is a relaxing song, which gets you singing along to. It is not as soppy as some of the other tracks on the album, so it gets my attention more. It is about someone being able to comfort him even if they say nothing.
17. All the time in the world (4.17) 1/5
This really is an album filler if you ask me, as it's not great. I don't really like it and find that I skip it quite often. It is about waiting for a girl as they have been hurt before. I think it doesn't really stand out.
18. I'll never need you (4.12) 1/5
This is a faster song but I don't think it is great either and is another album filler. The chorus sort of sounds like people is screeching to me.
19. So they told me (3.29) 2/5
This song is another album filler and isn't very memorable. It is a faster song with a faster beat but I don't think it really suits Boyzone's style. I skip this one and go to the start again once it comes on.
**OVERALL**
This album costs £8.78 on Amazon, which I think is good value as it is the best of Boyzone apart from the last three songs, which are rubbish really. I find this album is a great one to relax and chill out to. It really is only for Boyzone fans and probably is more a trip down memory lane as a lot of the music wouldn't really be in style for today.
