This Volume contains 15 tracks, all compiled with love by Jose padilla, the lengdenary DJ from the Cafedelmar in Ibiza. Once again he has mixed tracks of different genres, some traditional guitar, others are electric, some have a soulfull feeling and, of all things, Dusty Springfield!! No one else would get away with this.
That last track, Dusty Springfield, The look of love, is the perfect track to finish this series on. It sums up, for me, the whole idea of this compilation, love who you are, love who other people are, and most of all, enjoy what you have while you have it. It has been five years since Jose stopped working on these cd's, he has gone on to release a few cd's of his own work, I have two of them and they are fantastic, although they dont contain such ...
and I don't mean that badly, its nice to be soothed so much by one cd.
The theme on this cd is mostly a natural rythmic feeling, guitars and classical sounds, but with some electric influence, but as i have said, nothing shocking, I have heard alot of these tunes on BBC 1's Holiday programme and i'm sure most people would recognise a few of the tunes at least.
There are 13 tracks on this cd, and as usual, they range from different era's, most are from 1996, one from 1991 and track 3, Sueno con Mexico, a classical guitar piece is from 1979. On almost all of the Cafedelmar cd's you will find one track from about 30 years ago, but it will fit in, and its age won't show, infact you will probably find it to be the best track on the cd and will want to find more music by the artists.
Volume 3 also boast's the best and most fragile cover ...
I was introduced to the cafedelmar series by a friend back in 1995, what a long time ago! I have never been to the famed cafe in Ibiza, but have purchased all the volumes in this series upto Vol 6. I stopped here because the man that puts them togther stopped, there are others and i'm sure they are good, but they won't be as good as this!
Jose Padilla is the master mind behind volumes 1-6, he has such a good understanding of music and the way that it can influence moods and feelings and his selections on the cds are outstanding. I will review each of the 6 as I get the time, but here we will deal with the first...
