The Rocket Summer is Bryce Avary, and at only 20-years-old, he self-produced, self-recorded his debut album and found himself playing all the instruments, and writing all the songs on this album. The album is a mixture of power pop & slower ballads, which all have catchy hooks and lyrics. The album starts off with 'Cross my heart' which starts off slow, then turns into an upbeat joyful song. I think this is a very good song to start the album with. "What We Hate We Make" actually incorporates a chorus of children without making the song too cheesy at all. This song is very relaxing and gentle compared to others on the album.
My favourite songs on this album has to be ' Thats so you' because it's a song that makes you think about the words, and his voice sounds great on it. It's a very slow, romantic song, and i never get sick of listening to it. I also love the song 'Saturday' because it is so lively, and you find yourself nodding your head or tapping your feet to it.
Here is the tracklisting for the album: 1. Cross My Heart 2. Skies So Blue 3. This Is Me 4. Saturday 5. She's My Baby 6. That's So You 7. Mean Thoughts And Chea... 8. Movie Stars And Super ... 9. What We Hate, We Make 10. TV Family
Ten songs just isn't enough. When the album is finished, you just want to hear more! Why not buy his new album too, called ' Hello, Good friend.'
