The Red Hot Chili Peppers are, in my opinion, a band that you cannot dislike. They are so unique, you almost fear that someone in the future will copy their sublime style. "Californication" is another remarkable addition to the chain of superb RHCP albums.

The album contains some hits that you may have heard on the radio, including "Scar Tissue", "Otherside" and the title track, "Californication", but there are also some great songs that are heard less often, my favourite being the wonderful "I Like Dirt". In the majority of songs on the album, you can really see why the Chili Peppers are so successful. Threy mix a style of rap with soft rock, particularly in the opening track, "Around The World". Their use of instruments is magnificent, and they really express the lyrics through the music.

Unfortunately, the album is slightly flawed. The songs seem to become less and less inspiring as the album plays. The final track, "Road Trippin'", is a perfectly ok song, but that is all, OK. It almost seems that the band became more and more tired as they recorded the album. The last three or four tracks are what really let the whole album down, because over the course of the first ten tracks, you become really glad that you purchased this album.

in all honesty, "Californication" is an album which is worth paying for, even if you only listen to the first 2/3 of the disc, as the quality of the good songs easily outweighs the aberageness of the OK songs. Definitly worth ourchasing, whatever type of muusic you enjoy.
