...This CD is a brilliant stepping-stone into the Jazz world. The instantly recognisable voice of Louis Armstrong is familiarly heart warming, Louis stood next to the sensational Ella, make a fine pair. The strong vocals are supported by the excellent band, with great instrumental links keeping the listener on the edge of their seat. The intensity and coarseness of Mr. Armstrong's voice compels the audience to wish for the next scat solo or the next parade of incredible human talent that is Louis. Of course the same can be said of the sassy Ms. Fitzgerald who can sustain these high levels of aptitude. I recommend this CD to any budding music fan who wishes to broaden their Musical horizons! ...If you are unaware of the build up to this album, then you have missed out on a lot as this album is official untitled, however all Nas fans will know this album as "N****r" (yeah the '-er', not '-a') as Nas really wants to make a statement about censorship, which has become one of the biggest issues for Hip Hop as of late. After so much rebellion from others, he was forced to remove that title from the album, however by not giving it a title means that people are going to remember for what it should really be called. ...heard Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong performing ‘Learning The Blues’. Katie’s version is much lighter and sweeter, she just doesn’t have that deep, husky quality to her voice that is often associated with jazz singers. ‘Blame It On The Moon’ continues in a similar vein, but the tricky melody, in my opinion, doesn’t do a great deal to show off Katie’s voice, in fact I think that if anything, it highlights where she could make improvements. Another slow number follows, with ‘Belfast’. Katie wrote this song herself, and I can honestly say it’s got the oddest lyrics I’ve heard in a song in a long time! “And I'm divided between penguins and cats, But it's not about what animal you've got, It's about being able to fly, It's about dying nine times.” I’m not quite sure what this is all about, but this is a pretty tedious song anyway and I...
