Advantages: Well Written story with plenty of Build Up to main event Disadvantages: It has to end!
Wolves of the Calla is the fifth book in the Dark Tower Series, the book continues the story where the fourth instalment left off as we join Roland and his ka-tet leaving the forest of mid-world and coming upon a small farming community with big problems.
The people of Calla Bryn Sturgis have been plagued for centuries by the rampaging wolves who turn up every 23/24 years and kidnap 1 child from every pair of twins in the village and surrounding areas (twins being the norm in this part of Rolands world means this affect nearly all families in the village.) The children then returned shortly afterwards as "roont" Kings word for disabled mentally and physically.
The gunslingers face their most difficult times yet as they must first persuade these people they need help then prepare and help them whilst being mindful that in another ...
Advantages: Beautiful story, language and characters. Disadvantages: Might feel a bit too slow in pace at times to some.
In Wolves of The Calla, we once again join minds with Roland and his fellow Gunslingers. Advantages: A few really good tracks, some De La Soul tunes you have never heard before Disadvantages: The album has no flow, a few weak remixes
***Warning*** This review does contain some edited adult language and themes. The words have been changed but the meaning is plain.
In the stacks of wax you can find the De La Mix: Remixes, Rarities & Classics, De La Soul's 2004 release on Tommy Boy/ Rhino. This is not so much a greatest hits as it is a revisiting in an alternate universe. Both commercial and critical successes are treated to a fresh dusting off, live performance or remix on this disk.
Laying down the Knowledge
For those of you that don't already know, De La Soul has been around since rap was just rap. Hip hop was just starting to take root as a music genre. There was just rap. When the boys from Long Island hit the scene there was the rap that played on the radio and the rap we listened to when our parents were out of ear shot. De La dropped 3 Feet High ...
