Can You Feel The Love - Daniel O'Donnell

Disadvantages: May not appeal to non-fans

...of these songs I never liked to start with eg tracks 1, 6, 7 and 14 so I wasn't likely to enjoy them on this album. I like the rest of the tracks. However, "I'm A Believer", "Daydream Believer", "Sweet Caroline" and in particular "Come On Over To My Place" are my favourites. That last track is spoiled somewhat as it still reminds me of the old "Wimpy" advert but never mind. I love "Knock Three Times" but much like the others, I liked the originals as well. The album cover sees Donald in a rather fetching leather jacket, sitting in a mock 1950s American diner. The advert for this album had the same set up. Yes, it's Daniel O Donnell, and yes, it's not very original but music doesn't always have to be inspirational or ground-breaking. ...Daniel O'Donnell for a long time has been one of my top preforming artists.. I just simply love his clean fresh approach to the music world,, this man has all the qualities of a very genuine classic singer, his style, his clean strong but gentle voice and his love he has for his audience. The number of times I have seen this man in concert along with his female co-singer Mary Duff, he has always had his audience captivated with his preformance and the way he will work his way round the audience shaking hands and giving the odd kiss on the cheek of his many adoring fans. This man is a singer whos audience seems to vary widley,, he has even had children come to see him preform, some have come along with their parents and have been under 5, and then he seems also to appeal to a lot of the elderly.. Advantages: Great introduction to little known band

...to mark the point when Mikes celtic spirit really begins to show on record. 6.DON'T BANG THE DRUM A long one this one, clocking in at almost 7 minutes. Has an epic feel to it. Starts out with a woozy, flamenco type trumpet line and builds into a big rocky tune. 7.FISHERMANS BLUES Like a great big song that you wouldn't be suprised to hear The Pogues playing. I have a soft spot for this folky/Irish type music. If you don't you might have issues with the second half of this collection. 8.KILLING MY HEART More country influenced stuff. This is the right sort of Country/folk though. More Johnny Cash than Daniel O'Donnell. 9.STRANGE BOAT A very nice song with beautiful lyrics and vocals and instrumentation.
