Stonebridge was a producer in the early Noughties and his debut album with Hed Kandi is 'Can't get Enough'. It's a collection of club friendly (yet poppy) music featuring some wicked vocals. 'Put em High' released in 2004 was a club and chart smash and saw the album follow. There's since been the release of 'Take Me Away' and this week sees the brilliant 'Freak On' released! So here's the whole album in full!

Cant Get Enough ft Charlie King

I haven't decided if Charlie King is a man or a woman but nevermind. The vocals on this are very chilled and soulful. The song starts with a simple beat that builds and biulds with some 'yeah's' and 'uhs' before some kind of Urban chant! This song isn't the best dance track ever but its not rubbish it's a grower. But cos its not hard dance it's the perfect first song as it prepares you for whats coming! This is chilled dance you'd get from Groove Armada 4/5

Give A Little ft Rita Campbell

I looooove this tune. Is one of my favourite off the album. Is very very sparkly futuristic disco with a hint of Basement Jaxx (the back beat sounds like Red Alert). Rita Campbell's vocals are brilliant and this song just shimmers with fabulousness. It is like Basement Jaxx with Donna Summer in a very weird way - so weird its genius. It's a disco romper and I beg Hed Kandi to make this the next single. 6/5

Put Em High ft Therese

I didn't like this song at first, but all my mates did. The "ba bey ba bo" annoyed me. Now I like it. This was a very poppy almost Latino start to Stonebridge's career. It's a brill first single as its very catchy. Its oddly not the best track on the whole album. I like the breathy lyrics on this tune, you don't get them on any other track. 4/5

Once In A Lifetime ft Da Yenne

This tune starts with a real Oriental opening to it. Then the mellowed beats kick in. This is quite Groove Armada-like. Da Yeene talks more than sings through the chorus's. The chorus isn't a belting one either. Its without doubt a summery tune but I can't see the single potential in this like I can with a lot of other tracks. It's a bit average in a way… unless it's a grower. 3/5

Show You How ft Julie Morrison & Jay Soul

I don't like the laughy talky start to be honest… and at first it doesn't get much better! Julie Morrison sounds like Lisa Stansfield and the tune is very Brand New heavies and doesn't seem to work. In fact I don't like this tune very much! Makes the last one sound so much better… and oh no rapping, skipping, skipping… NEXT! 2/5

Freak On ft Ultra Nate

This song is blinding! Its wicked! Ultra Nate is a legend both vocally and in terms of dance music. This is a song you know you'd not be able to stop yourself dancing to if you were in a club (or your lounge or even at work on your headphones). Its dance with a very deep R&B beat that unlike 'Show You How' actually works. This should be a big hit. "Let's dance, let get our freak on tonight, lets do it, lets dance, do what grown people like." You can see why this was a Club Chart number one. I like the talky bit too. 6/5

A Little Bit Crazy ft Stella

I feel spoilt cos its another wicked dance track. This is more basic and fururistic than the latter. It starts with a very simple techno beat before an elctro robotic/alien sound kicks in and out. Then in comes the main beat and "everybody told me so, everybody told… me… so, you're a little bit crazy, a little bit c-c-c-c-crazy". I love this tune it can do no wrong. Stella sounds like she should be screaming some rock song one minute and then in sounding sweeter than Candy Floss the next. Its brilliant. 6/5

Deeper Love ft Gordon

See with a vocalist called Gordon it sounds like its gonna be as boring as you like, It starts with a funky bass and then the electro beats kick in! Gordon sounds like a female diva! Maybe he is???? Lol! Its not as good as some of the stuff on here but its not rubbish like 'Show You How' (which I've decided should have been binned) the only thing with this osng is that it's a bit too repetitive! 3/5

Desire ft Bonnie Bailey

When this started I thought the last song was playing again then it changed completely. This is very very poppy and could be on in all the clubs this summer. I like the violins and cello's in the background. It's a very uplifting track. If you heard this on the radio you would think it waw Dannii Minogue on a beat that was twice her normal dance pop tempo. I like this. 4/5

Take Me Away ft Therese

Therese returns for her second outing on the album. This is like Desire on the poppy front with the violins in the background. This is one of my favourite songs of the year… I don't know why! Its very instant,a nd very very catchy. I like the vocals and the beat. Its that simple. Possibly my favourite song! 6/5

Clorophilla (Put A Little Love) ft Isabel Fructuoso

I'm not sure about this song. It's a bit heavy when it starts and then goes chilled and slightly annoyingly monotone to start with. Then the salsa kicks in. No have decided already by this point I don't like it! Plus its 6mins long and cant be bothered with that! NEXT! 3/5

Gotta Give It Up ft Kenny Thomas

This is better yet again a little Basement Jaxx like in beat. Kenny Thomas sounds like AJ from Backstreet Boys. I like this tune I could happily dance to this in a club. Its not as good as the singles that have been released, and have a sneaky suspicion this will be the next single as theres so many remixes on CD2! It's a bit late nineties I think! 4/5

Let's Loze It ft Jay Soul

Jay Soul's songs arent that great on this. This sounds like an R&B tracj from the 'streets innit'. Its not terrible but it doesn't seem to fit on here at all in comparison to the rest of the album! I'm not hating it but I'm not convinced! 3/5

What A Day ft Chris Coco & Da Yeene

Very very very chillout and its not bad. Very Groove Armada. Only issue I have with this seaside mellow dance piece is its bloomin 7 mins long and my boredom threshold starts at anything past 5 mins. Apart from this it's a really nice summery song for lounging by a pool! 4/5

60 Seconds

60 Seconds of music. That sums it up - an outro I guess!

Overall this is a brilliant dance record. If you like Groove Armada or Basement Jaxx you will love this album. If you're bored at work whack it on, if your getting ready to go out whack it on, or if you just wanna dance round your lounge/bedroom… blare it out!

CD2 which comes with it is the remix CD. Plus has video's of Put em High, Take Me Away and Freak On which are nice little extra's. The remixes read as follows (I've not put em on yet my Zen yet!)

Put Em High (Lief Remix)
Gotta Give It Up (Klub Mix)
Freak On ( JJ Stockholm Club Mix)
Clorophilla (T & F vs Molltosugo Club Remix)
Put Em High (Sharp Boys Original Mix)
Take Me Away (Stones Re-Dub)
Gotta Give It Up (To De Neef Remix)
Put Em High (JJ's Club Mix)
Take Me Away ( DJ Bomba & J paolo Back to The 80's New Styling Remix)
Freak On (Ferry Corsten 12" Edit)

Cheers S xx
