'You can't HEAR Jimmy!'

There are a few films in most people's lives that they will remember more than others. Not necessarily because the film was good or because of something controversial it did. It is often to do with an event in that person's life, or something they associate with it. For me, White Men Can't Jump was one of the first films I ever owned on VHS. One of my friends at school borrowed it and subsequently lost it (so he says) and I never managed to get it back. With the bombardment of films we get nowadays on TV, particularly with satellite or cable and movie channels coming out of our ears, I have noticed it advertised every now and then, and recently, I borrowed my brother's recently bought DVD copy to watch it. You Can't Help But Love It!

Advantages: Entertaining film, great cast, gorgeous Jayne Mansfield, 1950s music

After watching her in The Girl Can't Help It, I was blown away by how good she was! She comes across as bright, intelligent and bubbly with a great way of delivering her lines. She makes the character of Jerri Jordan believable and extremely likeable. Of course her looks are utilised in the film and Jayne wears tight-fitting clothes to show off her tiny waist and rather bigger curves. But while the role could have been played as just another pretty blonde wiggling across the screen in sexy outfits, Jayne brings a real warmth and charisma to the role, so the viewers take Jerri Jordan to heart quickly and become involved in the story. You just want Jerri to be happy! Of the supporting cast, the stand out here is Henry ...
