hair colour. La Face Records' latest female discovery is positioned midway between mainstream hip-hop soul and poor imitations of Kelis-style anger. Producer-writer She'kspere brings out his trademark machine beats for "There You Go", a palecopy of Kelis' "You Oughta Know". Still, that single's more artful than "Split Personality", which clumsily attempts to acknowledge three-dimensional human reality but really sounds like a fit of whining until Pink unleashes the inevitable melisma over the song's coda. Elsewhere, she makes nice on standard-issue ballads ("Stop Falling") and lite-reggae proclamations of love ("Private Show"). "I just wanna make you feel things", Pink sings at one point. Unfortunately, the emotion the cynical trackCan't Take Me Homeinspires most is annoyance.--Rickey Wright

Pink - Can't Take Me Home (Special UK Edition)
Pink: "There You Go..."
Dan: "...here I go...
...I bought this album just after Christmas and hadn't got round to listening to it until only very recently. My friend wanted to borrow it because she heard that it was a particularly good album. I told her that she could have it because it was just one of those 'need to spend money' purchases and I don't even know why I bought it.
Before giving her the album, I thought I'd give it at least one listen, and I instantly enjoyed it. Before I even knew it, I was singing and dancing along (well, singing... trying to anyway! Well, it wasn't singing at all, you know when you're listening to a sing, and you're kind of singing along, but don't know the words. Humming, yep, that’s it!)
I didn't know how to tell my friend that I'd changed my mind and was now not going to give the album away. I will make her a copy, or at least lend it to her I thought. She wasn't devastated when I told her, she said it would be fine to have a copy of it, and all was okay.
The album...
The album is a great album to have. It includes the singles, "There You Go", "Most Girls" & "You Make Me Sick" There are 13 excellent tracks on the regular album, but the album I have also includes two bonus tracks which are excellent garage remixes of two of her hit singles. All of the tracks are all absolutely cracking, especially my favourite, "Most Girls" as it sounds amazing in the car with the amp and sub turned right up, man! :) There is diversity in the tracks, (Not all of them are about beating up men!) There are a couple of tracks, where Pink sounds vaguely like Whitney Houston and Mary J. Blige, one of which being Track 6. (See the full track listing at the bottom) Track 7 is also very 'Mary'
There are a few risky bits in a couple of the songs such as, "You stink of shi...." That was just an example, she does not actually say that phrase in the album. But very similar phrases do occasionally appear throughout. If the occasional rude word offends you, then stay clear of this album. They do appear, but rarely.
Track 1 is a good track to start off with. Listen to her story... Track 2 I find quite funny. A great song. Track 3 you will recognise instantly as it is frequently played on the radio. Track 4. There You Go. what more can I say? Track 5 makes me sick. I hate it. :( (It's called You Make Me Sick) its boring. Track 6 has a wicked drum intro and is an overall great tune. A slowy, but good. Track 7's intro is a progression of piano, with guitar added and the bass. Then drum. It’s fantastic. Track 8 sounds like it should have been recorded by Jennifer Lopez Track 9 has a drum & bass feel to it, and it moderately upbeat. Track 10 is another slowy sounding very similarly to Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak My Heart' Track 11 starts off with a jiggy little violin intro, soon to progress into a really groovy choon. Very cool. :) Track 12 fades in and is my least fave track on the album. I find it very repetitive, repetitive and repetitive. (This track is bypassed often) Track 13 starts off sounding quite Dr. Dre (ish) with twangy guitary things. Quite a good one. Track 14 is an upbeat version of There You Go. But it has this annoying bird sound effect, which can and will annoy you. Track 15 is a garage version of Most Girls. I love this one!
The front cover is quite arty, with the artist herself, "Pink" funnily enough with pink hair wearing a pair of groovy sunglasses, which are cleverly faded into her eyes. It’s hard to describe, but you'll fully understand when you see the album.

If you like Craig David, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Detinies Child etc, then you'll just love this..."
Okay, it's now nearly 2 years on since owning this album, and I must admit I haven't stopped listening to it. Okay - so I haven't been listening 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year... etc but every time I pop it into the stereo I sing along, quite happily and don't get tired of hearing the same old songs over and over.
Usually, a new album is a great thing, but with me, I get tired of listening to the same tunes time and time again, and the novelty of owning the latest album wears off. But Pink is different. Her voice is almost hypnotising - such a raw talent.
At the moment, my favourite track from the album is number 7 - Love Is Such A Crazy Thing. If you own the album, take a listen and appreciate.
I will be reviewing her latest album in due course, just give me a while to listen to it a few more times, and I'll let you know the lowdown.
Advantages: Great vocals, Pink's own brand of modern R'n'B Disadvantages: Subject matter is largely similar, some minor swearing
Pink made history in 2000 when she became the first white artist to sign on the dotted line with R’n’B label LaFace. The label, set up by legendary producer Babyface, is home to some of the biggest stars of modern day R’n’B and hip-hop, so she certainly had a lot to live upto. Since being plucked from obscurity she hasn’t looked back, and the fresh faced, vibrantly hair-doed American has gone from strength to strength. ... ...platinum selling album and was recently involved in the fishnet-clad melange of herself, Christina Aguilera, Mya and Lil’ Kim on the number one hit Lady Marmalade. Many ciaoers may only know this magenta-haired diva from her stint on this track, and not from her accomplished and funky debut album. If you are one of these people, your initiation starts here. Pink lists her main musical influence as Madonna, and if her first LP doesn’t ...

P!nk's R&B Days Review ofCan't Take Me Home - Pinkby
XICripZ
Advantages: Lots of big R&B tracks Disadvantages: A couple of tunes let it down
“Can’t Take Me Home” came out as the debut album from the Pennsylvania-born R&B, Rock and Pop singer Pink. This one came out in 2000 and was her breakthrough release as she performed in a style which appeared to fit in more with the Soul influences which she was raised on (which later went more towards the Rock and Pop world) as she got backing from the R&B singer and producer Babyface. 1. “Split Personality” Getting the album going, you have a track ... ...to fit in the style of 1998-2000 R&B, and it draws especially close resemblance to what Kelis was doing around this time and so it was really current in what it does for a decent opening cut as a tune to introduce what this has to offer from her. **Three Stars** 2. “Hell Wit Ya” You see as we move on through the thing, you get one which appears it take on in more influence from one of the people who has come to work on the production of this as this ...

Advantages: Original, phat beats, good lyrics, nice touch Disadvantages: She has pink hair ?
I bought Pink's album about 2 months ago and copied the songs onto my computer straight away. I lent the album out to one of my female friends within about a week of buying it, and I still haven't got it back coz she likes it so much ! Her particular favourite is " Hiccup ".
Pink is mostly known for her to main Uk releases " There You Go " and " Most Girls " which both proved big hits here in the charts. And her most recent release " You Make Me ... ...release increasing her reputation as the undisputed Queen of R'n'B.
Songs which stand out for me are " Split Personality ", " Hell Wit Ya ", " Private Show " and " Love Is Such A Crazy Thing ". All of which I believe will be future contenders for UK number one.
The album is very strong in terms of quality, with each of the songs offering an R'n'B fan that little something. The only song that migh dissapoint is " Stop Falling " which is a very slow ...

Think Pink Review ofCan't Take Me Home - Pinkby
sianrose
Advantages: Great sound, great voice, great lyrics...what more could you want?! Disadvantages: None
No, this isn't an advert for the Pink Panther, but the hottest new r&b sensation, Pink. Being only 19, her voice is absolutely amazing. She has her own style, which is strong, unlike Christina or Britney, who have more 'poppy' voices. Pink's album, 'Can't take me home' shows all of her talents, in only 13 songs. Most people are familiar with her first releases, 'There U Go' and 'Most Girls', which are followed by her successful 'You Make Me Sick'. ... ...is great! If you listen very carefully to her lyrics, Pink covers the everyday issues, for example, sex. It's not talking about it directly, but there is a hidden message in each of her songs. She is also known for talking about men, and how they ruin lives if you let them. 'There You Go' is the best example for this. There are many up-and-coming hits, like 'Hiccup', 'Private Show' and 'Stop Falling', with a range of tempos, from the fast 'Hiccup', ...

Move over TLC Review ofCan't Take Me Home - Pinkby
moophead
Advantages: You can dance along to it, sing along with it and scream along with it. Disadvantages: The 2 sappy ballads.
By now you should have heard the brilliant Top 10 single "There You Go" by this new american artist, well this is her debut album and quite frankly it rocks!. If you're at all into TLC or Destiny's Child then this is exactly the kind of album you'll love. As well as "There You Go" there's a load of similar tracks which are just as good and follow the same formula. These stand-out tracks include "The Hell Wit Ya", "Most Girls", "Can't Take Me Home" ...

*** MY OPINION ***
It seems like only yesterday but "Can'tTakeMeHome", Pink's debut album was actually released back on May 29th 2000. It's hard to believe she has been around so long, but she has!
"There You Go" was a great example of funky r & b at its best, similar in tone and style to tunes such as "No Scrubs" or "Bills Bills Bills" - hardly surprising given that it was co-written by the same people! The lyrics are quick-witted, the singing quick-tongued and its set over a very cool, urban backing track. "There You Go" is a tune which sets the general tone of the album. Songs like opening track "Split Personality" - a cleverly concocted descent-into-paranoia tune about struggling to...

Advantages: Great song, talented girls and a very classy video Disadvantages: None
...?Lady Marmalade? was first done in 1975 by Labelle, who took the song straight to No. 1, and more recently the song was a B-side on All Saints No. 1 smash hit ?Under the Bridge?.
Believe me when I say both are tame compared to this.
The song itself, most people have heard at one point or another. But just to recap, this funky disco classic, with partly French lyrics, is a song that celebrates the independence of women. It has great rhythm and it?s the type of song that really makes you want to get up and shake your thang.
It?s been years since there?s been collaboration as good as this one. The four ladies in question are HUGE. Pink?s debut album ?Can?tTakemeHome? is top of the R ?n? B chart here on Ciao, Mya had a No. 2 hit in 2000 with ?Case of the Ex? and pop princess Christina has had three Top 5 hit singles since...

Up to date Pink has released five studio albums: Can?tTakeMeHome (2000), Missundaztood (2001), Try This (2003), I?m Not Dead (2006) and Funhouse (2008). On CAN'T TAKE ME HOME, Pink pulls out all the stops, working with writers and producers including Babyface on "Split Personality," She'kspere on the blazing hot "Hell Wit Ya," and Soulshock & Karlin on "Private Show." Other standout cuts included here are "Do What U Do," "Most Girls," and "You Make Me Sick." With a sheen that can be attributed to Pink's previous years of showbiz experience, CAN'T TAKE ME HOME is an accomplished album for a debut release.
