Pink - Can't Take Me Home (Special UK Edition)
Pink: "There You Go..."
Dan: "...here I go...
...I bought this album just after Christmas and hadn't got round to listening to it until only very recently. My friend wanted to borrow it because she heard that it was a particularly good album. I told her that she could have it because it was just one of those 'need to spend money' purchases and I don't even know why I bought it.
Before giving her the album, I thought I'd give it at least one listen, and I instantly enjoyed it. Before I even knew it, I was singing and dancing along (well, singing... trying to anyway! Well, it wasn't singing at all, you know when you're listening to a sing, and you're kind of singing along, but don't know the words. Humming, yep, that’s it!)
I didn't know how to tell my friend that I'd changed my mind and was now not going to give the album away. I will make her a copy, or at least lend it to her I thought. She wasn't devastated when I told her, she said it would be fine to have a copy of it, and
all was okay.
The album...
The album is a great album to have. It includes the singles, "There You Go", "Most Girls" & "You Make Me Sick" There are 13 excellent tracks on the regular album, but the album I have also includes two bonus tracks which are excellent garage remixes of two of her hit singles. All of the tracks are all absolutely cracking, especially my favourite, "Most Girls" as it sounds amazing in the car with the amp and sub turned right up, man! :) There is diversity in the tracks, (Not all of them are about beating up men!) There are a couple of tracks, where Pink sounds vaguely like Whitney Houston and Mary J. Blige, one of which being Track 6. (See the full track listing at the bottom) Track 7 is also very 'Mary'
There are a few risky bits in a couple of the songs such as, "You stink of shi...." That was just an example, she does not actually say that phrase in the album. But very similar phrases do occasionally appear throughout. If the occasional rude word offends you, then stay clear of this album. They do appear, but rarely.
Track 1 is a good track to start off with. Listen to her story... Track 2 I find quite funny. A great song. Track 3 you will recognise instantly as it is frequently played on the radio. Track 4. There You Go. what more can I say? Track 5 makes me sick. I hate it. :( (It's called You Make Me Sick) its boring. Track 6 has a wicked drum intro and is an overall great tune. A slowy, but good. Track 7's intro is a progression of piano, with guitar added and the bass. Then drum. It’s fantastic. Track 8 sounds like it should have been recorded by Jennifer Lopez Track 9 has a drum & bass feel to it, and it moderately upbeat. Track 10 is another slowy sounding very similarly to Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak My Heart' Track 11 starts off with a jiggy little violin intro, soon to progress into a really groovy choon. Very cool. :) Track 12 fades in and is my least fave track on the album. I find it very repetitive, repetitive and repetitive. (This track is bypassed often) Track 13 starts off sounding quite Dr. Dre (ish) with twangy guitary things. Quite a good one. Track 14 is an upbeat version of There You Go. But it has this annoying bird sound effect, which can and will annoy you. Track 15 is a garage version of Most Girls. I love this one!
The front cover is quite arty, with the artist herself, "Pink" funnily enough with pink hair wearing a pair of groovy sunglasses, which are cleverly faded into her eyes. It’s hard to describe, but you'll fully understand when you see the album.

If you like Craig David, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Detinies Child etc, then you'll just love this..."
Okay, it's now nearly 2 years on since owning this album, and I must admit I haven't stopped listening to it. Okay - so I haven't been listening 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year... etc but every time I pop it into the stereo I sing along, quite happily and don't get tired of hearing the same old songs over and over.
Usually, a new album is a great thing, but with me, I get tired of listening to the same tunes time and time again, and the novelty of owning the latest album wears off. But Pink is different. Her voice is almost hypnotising - such a raw talent.
At the moment, my favourite track from the album is number 7 - Love Is Such A Crazy Thing. If you own the album, take a listen and appreciate.
I will be reviewing her latest album in due course, just give me a while to listen to it a few more times, and I'll let you know the lowdown.
