Fortunately the record company Hyperion have always had a great philosophy about bringing out recordings featuring unusual repertoire, and this CD is a prime example of this. Combined with a soloist, the cellist - Alban Gerhardt - and a conductor - Carlos Kalmar - both passionate proponents of the musical path less travelled, they've produced a fascinating recording which should hopefully achieve a lot in making these works better known. ...Steven Isserlis is an outstanding cellist. When you listen his playing alive, which I did, you can see how he captures you with his playing. I am a professional viola player for twenty years. I have listened many recordings of Bach cello suites from Rostropovich to Peter Bruns. Isserlis plays the suits in a way that you can find something different in his interpretation. Specially the 6th suit. That suit is very difficult to play actually. You should listen and hear it yourself how it flows. I have to also add the price is actually not that expensive. Because you are going to have the six suits which are usually come in two cds and plus interesting piece again by Bach , Cant del Ocells, ( Song of the Birds'). I highly recommend the cd who are interested in solo cello music, Bach or classical music.... Read review

...Calling Captain Rock Captain Rock born Ronald Wayne Greene is one of the great showmen of Hip Hop, and is happy on stage as he is in the studio. Before being Captain Rock he was Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde's live DJ from their period in the Harlem World Crew where he was known as DJ Ronnie Green. Creating his own crew known as "The Cosmic Crew" but The Cosmic Crew didn't exist longer than the time it took to make the record "Cosmic Blast". Since they all went on to lucrative careers of their own, and these were The Aleems, Dr Jeckyll & Mr Hyde, Scratch Al-D and Marley Marl. Captain Rock surely rocked the house with his live performance on UK Fresh 86 where he allegedly stripped down to his thong on stage.
