Album Notes: You knew it would happen eventually. Yes, that's right, Alestorm, a hearty group of fleet-fingered Scots, play what they describe as "true Scottish Pirate Metal." While groups like Iron Maiden have dabbled in a kind of robust sea chantey-tinged thrash at times, no one has ever committed to the act quite like Alestorm. Fully decked out in puffy shirts, boots, and waistcoats, the band crafts colorfully indigenous folksy heaviness swirled with keyboards in place of bagpipes or accordions. The vocals, pure snarling blackbeard, tell tales of drunken ribald antics on the high seas; bawdy ladies, treacherous winds, and death.
