Album Notes: Personnel: Loudon Wainwright III (vocals, guitar); Chaim Tannenbaum (vocals, banjo, harmonica); David Mansfield (fiddle, dobro, mandolin). Producers: Jeffrey Lesser, Loudon Wainwright III. Engineers: Jeffrey Lesser, Kooster McAllister. Recorded live at The Bottom Line, New York on January 8, 1993. Includes liner notes by Loudon Wainwright III. A dozen years after his first live release (A LIVE ONE), Loudon Wainwright released this excellent set. As with its predecessor, the album is an exemplary look at Wainwright's career up to the point of the album's release. CAREER MOVES is a generous helping of 19 songs, and includes six new ones. The album was recorded on a single night at one of his regular and favored venues, New York City's Bottom Line, and benefits from the contributions of multi-instrumentalists Chaim Tannenbaum and David Mansfield. Throughout, Wainwright's casual ease shines through as he toys with his own songs and jokes with the audience. With a wealth of material to draw from, he offers old favorites such as "The Swimming Song" and "The Man Who Couldn't Cry" (which Johnny Cash covered, closing his AMERICAN RECORDINGS the following year), and obscurities like "The Acid Song." He especially shines on delicately emotional autobiographical numbers like "Westchester County," "Five Years Old," "April Fool's Day Morn." CAREER MOVES is an excellent introduction to Wainwright's work, as well as an engaging set for those already familiar.
Album Reviews: Rolling Stone (12/23/93, p.156) - "...Acerbic humor delivered with Buster Keaton-deadpan irony still forms a basis for his eternal coffee-club act, but the tears of this clown are real - and conveyed with all the trenchant economy of a short-story master...." Q (8/93, p.101) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "...this set is a joy...Wainwright deserves every acclamation he's been granted and every nickel he's been tossed..."
Advantages: Pop genius Disadvantages: Slight lack of quality control
...Wainwright is a genius; the trouble is, he knows it. His earlier albums have apparently sold poorly for the simple reason that they?re too complicated and, quite frankly, too camp. ?Want two,? the last album, opens with some fanciful string and vocal arrangements that?s a version of an old Latin prayer or something, but track two is a fantastic pop tune.
For his new album, Wainwright has toned down his camp-ness by recruiting, er, a Pet Shop Boy (Neil Tennant). The PS Boys know all about being camp and being hugely successful and ?Release the stars?, while still being ornate and over the top, is firmly a pop album.
Wainwright?s voice is fantastic, carrying emotion and sentiment at the same time as sounding slightly bored; he also sounds like a world weary singer in a back street gay club, probably draped around a harp and wearing gold...

Advantages: Excellent book with lots of relevent information Disadvantages: None!
...As many of you know I'm going to university in September, to study a degree in Speech and Language Therapy. When I was at the Open Day at De Montfort University, one of the lecturers recommended this book and I am so glad she did. It was also recommended at the Newcastle University Open Day, but by this time I already had the book!
* "The role of a speech and language therapist (SALT) is to assess and treat speech, language and communication problems in people of all ages to enable them to communicate to the best of their ability. They may also work with people who have eating and swallowing problems." NHS Careers*
The book is written by Jannet A Wright and Myra Kersner whom have both worked as SALT's. It is written for anyone who is interested in a career as a speech and language therapist.
I ordered the book on 22nd February...

Advantages: Seamless, traits, Sims are better looking Disadvantages: Hard to keep track of, game play more complicated
..., etc etc. This does add a whole new realm of gameplay to it, though it takes some getting used to. You can't actually see inside all of the community lots, however with some such as the library or the gym you can. You are also able to buy more specific things now - for example, there is a book shop so you can buy a specific book, or you can buy specific ingrediants to make different meals. It's easy to move from one Sim to the next, although having Sims in various places around the neighborhood obviously makes it harder to keep track of them than if they were all sitting around the house. There is no lag whatsoever however. You can literally follow your Sim as they run to the grocery store or the beach, with no loading screens or anything like that. Oddly, Sims 3 actually runs much faster on my laptop than Sims 2 did!
The actual...
