Advantages: brilliant voice- well crafted album Disadvantages: some songs may sound similiar
Chris Cornell belonged to bands such as soundgarden and audioslave, and his main talents involve the guitar and his enchanting voice. People who are unaware of Chris Cornell may remember him for the song 'you know my name' (for James Bond- casino royale.) Good news is that this song is on the album
people who may be expecting a hard hitting loud album throughout are wrong as this album combines heavy instruments and Chris Cornell using ... ...he beautifully alternates his voice from melodic to hard.
1) no such thing.
A great start to the album this song starts with heavy guitar influence and gives the impression of a rock song throughout, but when Chris Cornell starts it clearly a focus on his voice, it includes a catchy chorus, but the best aspect of this song is the variation from the hard hitting chorus to the gentle words in-between.

2) Poison eye a decent song but average compared to others, not much of good lyrics like no such thing, but the good guitaring (it that even a word!) saves this song from being just another album song.
3) Arms around your love/ 12 silence Another demonstration off fine vocals and this song emphasises on the vocals as the music is quieter, this really shows his great voice and another catchy chorus helps very well. This is similar to 'silence' as it again focuses on his vocal but has been put in at track number 12 to provide a bit of variance and difference in the album.- will be first song to be released in UK.
4) Safe and sound/ 11 finally forever both songs has a very chilled out, relaxing feel they both have a love song fell, the only difference between these two songs is that safe and sound tend to follow the harder chorus, quieter in-between rhythm which are dominant in a few song on this album
5) She’ll never be your man/ 9-scar on the sky These two songs are probably the two average songs on the album and do not stand out from the rest, also they tend to have a country feel about them
6) Ghosts this song is a beauty , the best bit of this song is the way Chris Cornell changes his voice throughout the song to make this song really stand out, the changing works a treat for this song, and yet another catchy chorus
7) Killing birds Despite the disturbing name, from the guitar start to the end this song is another excellently crafted song, what makes this song brilliant is the simplicity of the instruments and dominance of the majestic vocalling(!) skills displayed by Chris Cornell. This song has a very sing-a-long feel to it and follows 'ghosts' very nicely.
8) Billie jean The best track by far and probably would have been the most dreaded due its name, yes it does use the words from Michael Jackson’s classic but that it the only resemblance from Michael’s version to Chris' version, the best thing Chris Cornell has done has done with this song is make it his own, it sounds very different to the original song and this is a fabulous attempt, Chris Cornell's effort on the vocal is one of the highlights and a gentle melody fits really well, to make this songs almost perfect. Best song on the album.
10) Your soul today This song is good due to its difference from the other songs and concentrates more on the instrumental side and this as well as other songs make the album from sounding dimensional.
12) Silence/ 13 disappearing act Silence is another example of preventing the album sound too similar and again concentrates on Chris Cornells vocals which are a key influence throughout the album. Disappearing act is probably just to make number up and is 'just another album track' but a good catchy chorus saves this song.
14) You know my name The well known track- this track shows the album concentrating on the 'chorus-hard and in-between gentle' theme but compared to other songs this is probably the loudest and isn’t really a fair reflection
SUMMARY: Chris Cornell’s voice is brilliant and is that is good enough to buy this album along. It concentrates more on gentler lyrics combined with catchy slightly louder choruses. this album is excellent and a few song all of the songs have their own unique sense about them, fans of audioslave may be disappointed and it not all a rock-heavy rock album at all.
Advantages: your going to be the envy of your mates Disadvantages: none really
As Daylight Dies is the fantastic new album by Killswitch Engage (KSE). If you have never heard of them before and you like you music hard, heavy and loud then let me tell you that this CD is exactly what you're looking for. KSE deliver ground rumbling, bass reflex busting "proper" heavy meal by way of a mixture of phonetic drumming and simple but melodic riffs. But the engine that really drives the band is the unbelievable vocals of Howard Jones. This guy sounds like Freddy Kruger in a very bad mood one minute then ChrisCornell the next, now that's no mean feat and it's carried off to great effect. But it's not just all a 100 mile an hour crash bang wallop they also show their subtle quieter moody side often just when your not expecting it, This is absolution is the classic example of this along with current single My Curse ...
Advantages: Superb album Disadvantages: The last Soundgarden album :(
', with it's understated lead guitar line allowing ChrisCornell to carry the song with his lyrics.
'Never Named' then hearkens back to heavier times, before 'Applebite' once again slows down the tempo, with some spooky crooning from Mr Cornell. 'Never The Machine Forever' then provides the listener with one of the album's more rockin' moments with it's 'Come out from where you hide/Get on with your own life' chorus, and some of lead guitarist Kim Thayil's spooky guitar soloing.
After this, the songs all seem to alternate between faster songs, such as 'Tighter and Tighter' and the anthemic-sounding 'An unkind' and more downbeat numbers, such as 'Tighter and tighter' and 'Overfloater', before the album reaches it's conclusion with the slightly trippy sound of 'Boot Camp'.
In short, some grinding, down-tuned guitar riffs ...

Album Notes
Eight years after his first solo outing, EUPHORIA MORNING, former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell finally released a follow-up, CARRY ON. In the interim, however, Cornell was far from idle--the powerhouse vocalist essentially took the place of Zack de la Rocha in Rage Against the Machine, and the resulting ensemble, Audioslave, issued three highly successful albums. Recorded while Cornell was still a member of Audioslave, CARRY ON found the performer back on his own by the time of its June 2007 release. Given that Cornell was the primary songwriter in Audioslave, CARRY ON isn't a radical departure from that group's guitar-heavy drama, as evinced on the fierce opener, "No Such Thing." However, Cornell does return to EUPHORIA MORNING's eclectic territory somewhat, particularly on the bluesy "She'll Never Be Your Man," which showcases the plaintive side of his expressive voice. Produced by Steve Lillywhite and featuring a cadre of largely under-the-radar musicians, CARRY ON seemingly allows Cornell to reclaim his artistic identity, a point hit home by the album's dramatic closing number, "You Know My Name," which served as the theme to the lauded '06 James Bond film CASINO ROYALE.
