Born in September 28, 1982 in Brittany, France, Nolwenn Leroy has moved to Vichy after the divorce of her parents, when her father, a professional footballer leaved the family house. Living with her mother, her grand-mother, and her sister, Kay, Nolwenn began to play violin. At 16 years old, she moved for one year in USA which permit her to speak very well English, not like me ! When she come back, she decided to take singing classes in a conservatory with Armande Altaï, a singer, and a teacher too in a real-TV show, Star Academy. During two years, she learnt laws at the university. And in the same time, she was working in a supermarket in order to pay her singing classes.

In 2002, she decided to do the casting of the second edition of the real-TV show in France, Star Academy. Like this, she was one of the 16’s students choosed to enter in the castle of Dammarie Les Lys, next to Paris, during for months. For all of them, the main objective is to win this edition, win 1 Million of €uros and record a first album. On December 21, 2002, she was choose by the French public, fascinated by her duets with International singers like Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Mariah Carey or with French singers like Johnny Hallyday, Lara Fabian or again Calogero. Her powerful’s voice make her one of the better singer of the new generation today in France, like Edith Piaf, a lot of years before.

Working with the better musicians and writers, her first album “Nolwenn” was sold as 700 000, a consecration for this young singer, shy and mysterious. So, now, I’m going to try to explain you what are the different songs of this album …

In France of her album, four songs where edited in singles : Cassé, Etre Une Femme, Suivre Une Etoile and Inévitablement … Her collaboration with songwriters such as Alain Souchon, Laurent Voulzy, Lara Fabian, Pascal Obispo and Lionel Florence, gave her greats fondations in order to begin her career.

During all the second edition of the real Tv show Star Academy, I was captivated by Nolwenn, by her voice, by her character, so mysterious. Indeed, she loves all about legends and clairvoyance. But she’s too a normal young girl, so funny and loving life more than all the rest. At the beginning, she was see as a so shy singer, and consequently as a girl which only wants money of her album, but it wasn’t the reality. Nowadays, even if we don’t love her music, nobody can tell that she isn’t a really great singer.

In USA, a researcher at the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies is studying on the effects of her voice which could prevent falls, like the music of Mozart. This study is based on her powerfull voice and more important, on the tone of her voice, which is so pretty, and so different of tones of all the others singers.

I really love her and her album, her songs and her voices, and I hope that you, the English people, are going to discover her one day, and to adopt her. Because if only one French singer has to be known out of the “Manche”, it’s her, inevitably …

If you want to discover her songs, for me the betters, are :

(¸.• Cassé ( Broken ) : song where she talk of the separation of a love duet, the fact to come back and looking for her lover, which has leaved the family house, without a word.

(¸.• Suivre Une Etoile ( Follow A Star ) : maybe the better song, where she says that we all have a star in us, and we all have to follow our dreams in order to never have regrets.

(¸.• 14 Février ( 14th Of February ) : a song on the Valentine’s Day and more paricularly, for those who are bachelors, and the effect of this day on them.

Excuse me for my language, which is not really well, but I hope that you have understand a little bit of my text, and with time, I’m maybe going to have a better level in the Shakespeare’s language … with you.
