THE MISERY OF ENTRAPMENT

Advantages: A film full of suspense.
Disadvantages: None really.

- MISERY - Released in 1990, written by Stephen King and directed by Rob Rein. 'Misery' stars Kathy Bates and James Caan. - Genre Thriller/Horror, Running time 100 minutes and BBFC Rating: 18. - Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is a very successful writer. He has used the heroine called 'Misery' in most of his books, but he has now decided to 'kill her off' so to speak. As is his want, when he is preparing to write a new book, he takes off to the hills for some peace and quiet, a little bit of thinking time and some inspiration. The character Misery has been his 'money spinner' in quite a few of his novels so far, but he now feels it is time to call it a day, and go on to try other things. He has a great fondness for Misery, but put her to bed he must. His agent is not so happy with his plans, thinking it may ...

Review of Misery - Stephen King

Misery Loves Company

Advantages: Well Acted, Tense, Well Directed
Disadvantages: None

Stephen King novels generally don't fare too well when adapted to the screen be it the cinema or the small screen. Sure there are exceptions like the shawshank redemption and the green mile but for every one of those there's an 'it'. The recent release of dreamcatcher was also a crushing disappointment after it's spooky trailers. misery just falls under shawshank as the best king adaptation because it's memorable, gets under your skin and has moments of sheer terror as well as some dark humour. Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is a famous novelist known for writing a series of books that feature a character named misery. Sheldon writes every book in the quiet surroundings of new england before returning to new york. He has finished his latest book, an attempt to break free of the character that has made him money. However his journey out ...
