Advantages: Eight Good tracks.
Disadvantages: Twenty naff tracks.

Pretty much different remixes of all the earlier tracks. 1.Don't You Want Me (Majik J Original Booty Vocal Mix) Actually this is bloomin good, very heavy drum beat, great dance type track, reminds me of the extended version of 'Beautiful' Chritina Aguilera. It's a keeper, for long drives at nearly 8 minutes long. So now I have just about broken even with my investment. 2.Open Your Heart (Laid Remix) No thank you. 3.The Sound Of The Crowd (Trisco's PopClash Mix) Spoilt a good song. 4.Love Action (Brooks Red Line Vocal Mix) Again, a good mix this, bit more 'dancey', not too different, but different enough. 5.(Keep Feeling) Fascination (Groove Collision TMC Mix) Awful, a backing riff that sounds like 'celebration' Kool and the Gang, it is so wrong. 6.Empire State Human (Chamber's Reporduced Mix) Laughable. 7.The Things That Dreams Are Made... Advantages: Many famous songs
Disadvantages: Many of their best missed out

...This best of covers the period after Kool and the Gang changed their style drastically. Commercially, this meant higher sales, but musically they suffered. This album includes some of their most well known songs such as 'Celebration' , 'Tonight' and songs of a similar ilk to this. These songs sold extremly well and made kool & the gang a lot of money. However, they were one of the finnest funk groups of the early 1970's before they sold out. The sound of the music on here is very over produced and managed. Guitar sounds are trimmed and everything sounds like its been through a machine. All the raw quality has been lost. Previously, they made albums with a lot more punch, albums that could truely be called FUNK. This music was made to be popular and to sell. Its just a shame that what they had before, didn't do as well. Check out... Read review

Advantages: Great Live recording and excellent tracks
Disadvantages: Final song fades out too soon

...experience all the more exciting for the fans back then and gives us listeners today a new look, or should that be listen, at the songs. I love hearing the individual instruments used and you can really pick them out amongst the singing and cheers, the drummer especially shines and provides a real backbone to the music, of course my real soft spot is for base guitar which in this style of music really provides the heart, soul and funk. I won't go into a detailed song description, most of us would have heard of at least one of the bands tracks, "celebration" and "ladies night" in particular, needless to say all the best Kool & The Gang tracks are included.
